"Women of Honor’s Ray of Sunshine” Sumie Sakai was victorious in the first-ever women’s match in Ring of Honor in 2002. Since then, Sakai has earned a reputation for being one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world, using devastating submission maneuvers and her signature Missile Drop Kick to rack up victories.
Billed from The Jersey Shore, Japan, Sakai made her pro wrestling debut as a teenager in 1997, and she is still at the top of her game. When Women of Honor was relaunched in the summer of 2015, Sakai was one of the first stars contacted. Outside the ring, Sakai has formed a special friendship with a young wrestling fan battling cancer named Samarra “Sammy’ Pirrong.
