Ring of Honor is home to “The Best Wrestling on the Planet,” and since 2004, the Survival of the Fittest tournament has brought together the top stars of ROH to prove who truly is the best of the best.
This year, the prestigious tournament takes place during the weekend of Nov. 17-19, starting at Austin Highway Event Center in San Antonio, Texas; then moving on to Gilley’s Dallas; and concluding at Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Survival of the Fittest is composed of a series of qualifying matches, with the winners meeting in a multi-man elimination match to determine the overall winner. The lone survivor will be rewarded with a future shot at the ROH World Championship.
The list of past winners of the tournament reads like a who’s who of the most accomplished wrestlers in the sport. Former ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson came out on top in the inaugural Survival of the Fittest tournament, and other winners include former ROH World Champions Roderick Strong, Tyler Black, Eddie Edwards, Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal and Adam Cole.
Other participants in the tournament over the years include the likes of Kenny Omega, Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness, Kevin Steen, Christopher Daniels, Jay and Mark Briscoe, Austin Aries, El Generico, Claudio Castagnoli and Steve Corino.
Competitors for the 2017 Survival of the Fittest tournament have not yet been announced by ROH officials. Stay locked into ROHWrestling.com and ROH Social for all the latest information.
