ROH TV Preview: Relive Classic Matches From ROH's Early Years Featuring Bryan Danielson, Eddie Guerrero, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles And The Briscoes

This weekend’s special episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling features classic matches from the early days of ROH, including two huge bouts from ROH’s very first show, The Era of Honor Begins:

“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Low Ki vs. Christopher Daniels
(The Era of Honor Begins, Feb. 23, 2002)

The epic main event of ROH’s debut show established a high bar for every subsequent ROH main event.

The triple threat match pitted three outstanding athletes and excellent ring technicians against each other.

Danielson was only 20 years old, but he had already been wrestling for more than two years and become a star in Japan; Low Ki, one of the hardest-hitters in the sport, would go on to become the first ROH World Champion; Danielson was a 10-year veteran who had wrestled all over the world.

IWA Puerto Rico Intercontinental Title Match: Eddie Guerrero vs. Super Crazy
(The Era of Honor Begins, Feb. 23, 2002)

This match was to crown the first IWA Puerto Rico Intercontinental Champion. It was the only time the two decorated luchadors faced each other.

Guerrero was already a big international star and a multi-time champion in WWE, WCW, ECW and AAA. Super Crazy was a former ECW TV Champion and star in Mexico.

ROH World Tag Team Title Match: Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. AJ Styles & Samoa Joe
(The Conclusion, Nov. 28, 2003)

Four weeks after winning the first of their 12 ROH World Tag Team Titles, the Briscoes put their belts on the line against the dream team of Styles and Joe.

The Briscoes, both of whom were still teenagers, were determined to prove their title win was no fluke.

Joe, the reigning ROH World Champion, wanted to become a double champion, so he found himself a phenomenal partner.
