The show opened with footage from last week’s show moments after it went off the air. The Kingdom, which had just lost a six-man tag match to ROH World Champion Dalton Castle and The Boys, returned to the ring and attacked Castle and The Boys from behind and left them lying. Backstage after the attack, Kingdom leader Matt Taven said that if ROH doesn’t give him the opportunities he deserves, he’s going to have to take them. He said he will be the next ROH World Champion.
ROH World Tag Team Title Match: Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) (champions) vs. The Dawgs (Rhett Titus and Will Ferrara)
The Machine Guns took control early but the Dawgs weathered the storm and turned the tide in their favor. The Dawgs isolated Shelley, but after Titus missed a Dawgy Splash, Shelley tagged in Sabin.
Sabin went on the offensive, with Shelley eventually joining him in the ring. The champions hit Dream Sequence and followed up with a double cradle-driver to secure the victory and another successful title defense.
After the match, Jay and Mark Briscoe came out to the stage. Jay told the Machine Guns to enjoy the titles while they can because the titles are the Briscoes’ property. Jay said he and Mark will reclaim their property and there’s nothing the Machine Guns can do about it.
SoCal Uncensored Hires Shane Taylor
SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) approached Taylor backstage. Daniels told Taylor they have a business proposition for him. Daniels said they’re going to the ring tonight to do some business and they want to make sure no Bullet Club members crash the party. Kazarian started to say something, but Taylor cut him off. Taylor said, “You know how this goes. You write the check, I put them down. Simple as that.” Taylor added that if the check doesn’t clear he’ll find them. Daniels said he’s too smart to doublecross Taylor.
Kenny King Wants His Gold Back
King said that he should’ve had his head on a swivel at Final Battle when Silas Young smashed him over the head with a beer bottle and took his ROH World Television Title, and he also should’ve had his head on a swivel last week when Young and Beer City Bruiser added Brian Milonas to their ranks. He said that won’t stop him, and he will get back on his golden throne.
Josh Woods vs. Jonathan Gresham
Before the match began, a clip from the Final Battle pre-show aired showing Gresham defeating Woods. Then in a pre-taped backstage interview from earlier today, Woods challenged Gresham to a rematch. Woods said Gresham’s win at Final Battle was a fluke and it won’t happen again.
Following a brief feeling-out process, Gresham gained the momentum after hitting a slingshot crossbody onto Woods outside the ring. Gresham then came off the top rope but he was caught by a knee to the midsection.
Woods hit a series of rolling gutwrench suplexes and landed a powerbomb for a near fall. Gresham rebounded with a dragon-screw leg whip on Woods’ left leg, and then he stomped on the same leg. Gresham followed up with a pinning combination into a bridge for the win. Despite being visibly frustrated over losing again to Gresham, Woods shook his hand after the match.
Coleman’s Pulpit Welcomes Coast 2 Coast’s LSG and Shaheem Ali
Caprice Coleman noted that Coast 2 Coast said they would disband if they lost their next match. He asked what it would do to them if they had to break up their tag team. LSG said that they’re brothers and they want to stay together, but if they have to split up they’re going to each have to start from the bottom. Ali said losing has been frustrating. Coleman asked whose idea it was to break up if they lost again. Ali said it was his call. He said they have a lot of respect for guys on the roster who can take their places if they don’t get the job done.
Coleman snickered and said, “I guess we know who the weakest link is.” LSG and Ali took exception to that remark. Ali said they’re going to win because they don’t have a choice. Coleman said that’s the fire he was looking for. Coleman said he knows who Coast 2 Coast’s next opponents are, and he’ll tell them if they want to know. LSG and Ali said they did. Coleman told them it’s War Machine. LSG and Ali rightfully appeared concerned.
Cody Speaks For the First Time Since Final Battle
Cody came out to the ring in a suit and said, “I am a victim to my hubris. I stand before you no longer world champion.” Cody admitted that new ROH World Champion Dalton Castle was the better man at Final Battle. Cody told Castle to have his fun because he is guaranteed a rematch. Cody flashed the ring on his finger and said that he still has the “official ring of honor.”
The Kingdom’s Matt Taven interrupted and entered the ring. Taven said that Cody has been handed everything on a silver platter because of his last name. He said Cody couldn’t stand on his own when he came to ROH so he joined Bullet Club. Taven said he has beaten everyone in the locker room but he keeps getting looked over for people like Cody. He said Cody was given every opportunity to win the title, and then a few months later, it was gone. Taven called Cody a “little bleached-blond b*tch,” dropped the mic and started to leave.
Cody stopped him, saying, “My hair got a bigger pop at Final Battle than you will ever hear in your life.” Cody said he wanted to be friends and held out his finger for Taven to kiss the ring. Taven did kiss it -- and then he kicked Cody low.
Punishment Martinez Video
A creepy video aired that showed recent highlights of Martinez’s matches. Martinez then said, “I am the end. I am the executioner.”
CMLL’s Dragon Lee and Titan vs. Best Friends (Beretta and Chuckie T) vs. Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)
After several minutes of back-and-forth action, The Young Bucks cleared the ring and then hit simultaneous suicide dives on Best Friends. Shortly thereafter, Lee hit a somersault dive through the ropes onto The Young Bucks, and Titan landed a moonsault off the top rope onto the Bucks outside the ring, with the momentum carrying Titan over the barrier and into the front row. Chuckie T was about to do some type of dive as well, but Beretta stopped him with a hug. Best Friends hit a double senton over the top rope onto all four of their opponents outside the ring.
Best Friends then hit a lawn dart-cutter combination on Matt Jackson for a near fall. Titan hit a springboard frog splash on Beretta, but Chuckie T made the save. Surprisingly, Matt Jackson and Chuckie T then worked together against the CMLL stars. They hugged, but Matt held onto Chuckie T and then asked, “Where do you think you’re going?” Nick Jackson superkicked Chuckie T, and then the Bucks delivered superkicks to Beretta and Lee.
Matt went for a superkick to Titan, but Titan ducked it and Matt inadvertently nailed his brother. Titan rolled up Matt for a near fall. Titan went for a moonsault onto a wobbly Matt, but Matt rolled through and put Titan into a Tombstone position. Nick hit a corkscrew crossbody off the top rope onto Beretta outside the ring, and then he and Matt hit the Meltzer Driver on Titan for the win.
After the match, SoCal Uncensored hit the ring and attacked the Bucks. Adam Page entered the ring with a chair, and SoCal Uncensored quickly retreated.
Next week: Coast 2 Coast vs War Machine (Coast 2 Coast must disband if they lose); Bully Ray Speaks for the first time since Final Battle.
