From Global Wars Espectacular: Chicago (Sept. 7): RUSH vs. Barbaro Cavernario

These two are no strangers to one another, having teamed together and fought on opposite sides numerous times in CMLL. This was their first meeting in an ROH ring and just their second-ever singles match against one another. Cavernario, one of the top stars in CMLL, took the fight to RUSH, nailing him with a series of dives to the floor and ramming him into the barricade. RUSH was bleeding from his right shoulder. RUSH rallied and went on to hit Bull’s Horns to remain unbeaten in ROH.

Marty Scurll, Dalton Castle Discuss Final Battle No. 1 Contender Tournament

The winner of the tournament receives a shot at the ROH World Championship at Final Battle on Dec. 13.The semifinals and finals take place at Glory By Honor in New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 12. (The show will stream live for HonorClub.)

Scurll and Castle gave their thoughts heading into the semifinals.

Castle said he knows what it takes to be ROH World Champion because he’s been there before. He said he’s been training in the hottest of temperatures to prepare for the semifinals.

Scurll said he’s done everything in pro wrestling, but somehow the ROH World Championship has escaped him. He said if he doesn’t win the title, maybe he’s not who he claims to be. He said the ROH World Title means everything to him. Scurll said this might be his last chance to compete for the ROH World Title, so he’s going in all guns blazing.

From Global Wars Espectacular: Chicago (Sept. 7): Jay Lethal, Jeff Cobb and Jonathan Gresham vs. Team CMLL (Caristico, Triton and Stuka Jr.)

Cobb’s strength and agility once again were on display. At one point, he held Stuka Jr. in a vertical suplex position for what seemed like an eternity before finally completing the move. Cobb also scooped up Caristico and Triton and hit a fallaway slam on both of them. He followed with a standing moonsault on Stuka Jr. for a near fall. Later, the three members of Team CMLL hit simultaneous suicide dives. Stuka Jr. hit a torpedo splash on Lethal, but Gresham made the save. Lethal and Gresham hit the Cornette Cutter on Triton, and Gresham pinned him.

From Global Wars Espectacular: Dearborn (Sept. 6): Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO, Brody King and Flip Gordon) vs. Team CMLL (Barbaro Cavernario, Hechicero, Okumura and Rey Bucanero)

This was an entertaining free-for-all that took place inside and outside the ring. King once again displayed his freakish agility for a man his size during the match, as the raucous crowd gave him a standing ovation. PCO hip-tossed Hechicero onto a pile of competitors on the floor and then hit a moonsault off the top rope onto them. Scurll had Okumura stretched out over his legs, and King hit a senton onto the defenseless Okumura for the win.

From Global Wars Espectacular: Milwaukee (Sept. 8): Volador Jr., Caristico and Stuka Jr. vs. Hechicero, Rey Bucanero and Okumura

This entertaining, fast-paced trios match between six CMLL stars ended with Volador Jr. hitting a super hurricanrana on Hechicero for the victory.
