Dalton Castle is ready for first title defense
Castle said he knew when he won the ROH World Title that he was going to have a target on his back, so he wasn’t surprised when Punishment Martinez attacked him. He said he’s going to come out swinging when he puts his title on the line against Martinez tonight and will do everything he can to leave still the champion.
Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas (w/Silas Young) vs. Coast 2 Coast (LSG and Shaheem Ali)
Beer City Bruiser and Milonas were making their debut as a tag team, while Coast 2 Coast was looking to build on their do-or-die, breakthrough win against War Machine two weeks ago. This was a classic matchup of size -- Bruiser and Milonas outweigh LSG and Ali by a combined 300 pounds -- versus speed.
The match only lasted a few minutes before Young got physically involved behind the referee’s back. That brought out Kenny King, the man Young defeated for the ROH World Television Title at Final Battle in December, who immediately jumped on Young. All six men started brawling, so the referee called for the bell and declared the match a no-contest.
During the commercial break, the match was changed to a six-man tag.

The match started hot and the back-and-forth action continued until LSG swung the momentum in his team’s favor by hitting a spectacular corkscrew 450 off the top rope onto Bruiser and Milonas. LSG and Ali then fed Young to King, who hit the Royal Flush to pin the ROH World Television Champion.
The Dawgs aren’t impressed
The Dawgs (Rhett Titus and Will Ferrara) were backstage watching Coast 2 Coast and Kenny King celebrate their victory. Titus said it’s time for The Dawgs to send Coast 2 Coast packing.
WOH video package: Preview of Mandy Leon vs. Madison Rayne match
Leon and Rayne both talked about their desire to be the first WOH Champion. Leon said that she bleeds Ring of Honor and no one will stand in her way. Rayne said she has been wrestling for 10 years, and winning championships is what she does.
Women of Honor Title Tournament First-Round Match: Mandy Leon vs. Madison Rayne
These two evenly matches competitors battled to a stalemate until Rayne hit a cutter for a near fall, and then followed with the Rayne Check -- a move she has won many matches with -- for another near fall. Frustrated with her inability to put Leon away with her finisher, Rayne went for a crossbody off the top, but Leon dodged it. Leon immediately followed with her Astral Projection finisher for the victory.
Leon advances to the quarterfinals, were she will meet the winner of the first-round match between Kelly Klein and Bonesaw Brooks.
Video from last week after ROH TV went off the air: Cody confronts Young Bucks
Cody, after being laid out by The Kingdom and having his “ring of honor” stolen by Matt Taven, came back to the locker room and saw The Young Bucks. An agitated Cody asked where they’ve been. The Bucks said their flight was late and they just got there. Cody said he got his ass kicked and the fans were chanting for the Bucks to make the save. Cody said everyone wants Bullet Club to break up, and they can’t let that happen. He said he needs better from everyone, especially the two of them. After Cody stormed out, an oblivious Marty Scurll walked in carrying a sign a fan made for him. Matt Jackson told him now wasn’t the time.
The Briscoes: It’s all about making statements
In a backstage video shot before the show, the Briscoes had a message for ROH World Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns. Jay Briscoe said they don’t care about their opponents’ well-being or whether the fans cheer for them; they care about making statements. Jay said it’s not personal against the Machine Guns; it’s personal against everybody. He said the ROH World Tag Team Titles are their property and they’re coming to take their property back.
ROH World Title Match: Dalton Castle (w/The Boys) (champion) vs. Punishment Martinez
True to his word, Castle came out swinging against his bigger challenger, but Martinez withstood the onslaught and began to dominate. The champion, however, also proved resilient. A Falcon Arrow from Martinez couldn’t put away Castle, and neither could a super spinning heel kick from the top rope after Journey into Darkness. Martinez then put a near lifeless Castle into position for the Psycho Driver, but Castle fought his way out and surprised Martinez with a small package for the win.
After the match, a furious Martinez destroyed both of Castle’s Boys.
THEY SAID IT
“If I was a big lummox with eyeliner, I’m be looking for any advantage I could get, especially if I had to fight me. Punishment, you clearly understand you’re not getting in the ring with the same Peacock you have in the past. You’re going to be looking face to face with a champion, with a man who’s willing to fight to protect what he’s earned.”
-- Dalton Castle, prior to his ROH World Title defense against Punishment Martinez
“He definitely found someone that can eat more brauts than him.”
-- Colt Cabana on Beer City Bruiser’s new tag partner, Brian Milonas
“Madison Rayne, you’re a world class talent, an international superstar. You’ve held titles all over the world. But you haven’t been here. I've been here since Day One. This is my dream. This is all I’ve ever wanted.”
-- Mandy Leon, prior to her match against Madison Rayne
“What Mandy is forgetting is that I was here several years before her. I helped lay the foundation to what Women of Honor is today and will be tomorrow. I make history, I win championships, and I belong at the top of Women of Honor.”
-- Madison Rayne, prior to her match against Mandy Leon
“Where’s your flight coming from? Is it coming from Winnipeg? Is this a Kenny thing? Because we don’t need any more Kenny things!”
-- Cody to The Young Bucks, alluding to the rift that has developed within Bullet Club between him and Kenny Omega
“We don’t care if we break bones. We don’t care if we cripple you, if you walk back to the locker room or are carted back. Hell, we don’t care if you live or if you die.”
-- Mark Briscoe on how he and his brother Jay feel about their opponents
“How the hell did Dalton Castle pull that off? That’s got to be the upset of the century!”
-- Marty Scurll, who sat in on commentary during the main event, after Castle defeated Punishment Martinez. Martinez last week agreed to give Scurll an ROH World Title shot if he won the title.
