ROH Recap: Motor City Machine Guns vs War Machine for the First Time Ever

ROH World Champion Cody addresses Christopher Daniels’ attack on him

Cody showed video of Christopher Daniels crashing Cody’s championship coronation last week and attacking him. Cody said, “Next week we’re going to do it all again because Christopher Daniels has been sent home, he’s been benched.”

Coast 2 Coast (Shaheem Ali and LSG) and Flip Gordon vs. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle and The Boys (Non-Title Match)

Coast 2 Coast and Gordon gained the advantage thanks to their dazzling aerial attack, but the newly crowned champions rallied and went on to score the win when Castle caught LSG with the Bang-A-Rang and pinned him. The Boys, who are viewed by some as a liability,  more than held up their end in this contest.

Silas Young takes a camera crew to follow Jay Lethal’s journey to the hospital

In a video shot June 23 after the Best in the World pay-per-view, Young stood outside the hospital where Lethal was being treated for the injuries he suffered at the hands of Young and Beer City Bruiser earlier that night. Young said Lethal won the battle at Best in the World, but he’s winning the war. “It’s going to be a long time before we see Lethal back in ROH again,” Young said.

Matt Taven (w/Vinny Marseglia and TK O’Ryan) vs. Ultimo Guerrero

Guerrero had Taven’s number entering this grudge match, defeating The Kingdom leader on a CMLL pay-per-view in March and then teaming with El Terrible to beat Taven and Marseglia at Best in the World. Guerrero appeared to be on his way to another victory, but the crafty Taven delivered a low blow out of the referee’s view and then hit The Climax for a hard-fought win.

Bullet Club’s Young Bucks and Hangman Page deliver a message to The Briscoes and Bully Ray

The Bullet Club trio wasn’t pleased that their match against The Briscoes and Bully Ray on next week’s show would no longer be for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship since The Briscoes and Bully Ray lost the title at Best in the World. The Young Bucks and Page said they would win the title eventually anyway.

Silas Young updates his “Jay Lethal is off TV” board

Young announced that it’s now been 15 days since the injured Lethal has been on ROH TV. He said Lethal will never be safe as long as Young is in ROH.

The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. War Machine (Raymond Rowe and Hanson)

Two of the top tag teams in the sport squared off for the first time ever in this dream match. It was a classic contrast in styles, pitting MCMG’s quickness and slick double-team maneuvers against War Machine’s raw power. The turning point in the match occurred when Hanson went for a dive onto Shelley on the floor, but Shelley moved and Hanson crashed and burned. With Hanson neutralized, MCMG hit Made in Detroit on Rowe for the victory. The win over a tag team of War Machine’s stature likely puts MCMG in line for a future shot at ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks.
