Bully Ray looking to restore honor in ROH

After highlights from last week’s episode showed Bully Ray announcing that he had been appointed the enforcer in ROH and then restarting the match in which The Hung Bucks ended up retaining the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles against SoCal Uncensored, he addressed the crowd and reiterated his mission statement of bringing honor back to ROH,

SoCal Uncensored’s Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

Early in the match, Cody joined Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana on commentary and voiced his support for The Young Bucks while insisting that Bullet Club is fine. Kazarian and Sky looked to be on their way to winning the back-and-forth contest when they hit simultaneous slingshot cutters followed by dueling Dragon Sleepers. The Young Bucks escaped, however, and locked on dueling sharpshooters. They later hit a series of superkicks and landed the 5-Star Meltzer Driver on Sky for the victory.

After the match, SoCal Uncensored member Christopher Daniels attacked The Young Bucks from behind. As the beatdown continued, Cody hesitated to make the save. Bullet Club’s Adam Page ran down to ringside with a chair, and SoCal Uncensored quickly retreated.

Video from last week: Silas Young (with some help from his friends) lays out Kenny King

In video footage from last week after the show went off the air, King was confronted backstage by Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas. While King verbally sparred with the two big men, Young ambushed King and delivered a beatdown. As Bruiser and Milonas held King, Young kicked him in the face.

WOH Title Tournament video package: Kelly Klein vs. “Bonesaw” Jessie Brooks; Deonna Purrazzo vs. Holidead

Video package: ROH 16th Anniversary lineup

The following matches have been announced thus far for the ROH 16th Anniversary pay-per-view on March 9:

-- ROH World Title Match: Dalton Castle (champion) vs. Jay Lethal

-- ROH World Tag Team Title Match: The Motor City Machine Guns (champions) vs. The Briscoes

-- Cody vs. Matt Taven

ROH World Television Title Match: Silas Young (w/Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas) (champion) vs. Kenny King

A few minutes into the match, Beer City Bruiser tripped King out of the referee’s view. That brought out ROH enforcer Bully Ray, who ejected Bruiser and Milonas from ringside. Now it would be a fair fight between King and the man who took the ROH World Television Title from him in a Four Corner Survival Match at Final Battle in December.

King and Young pulled out all the stops, but both men proved resilient. Frustrated and perhaps seeing his title slipping away, Young tried to leave, but King tossed him back in the ring. Young landed a low blow behind the referee’s back and hit a rolling fireman’s carry into the Pee Gee Waja Plunge for a near fall. Young then whipped King into the corner and charged after him, but King eluded him and countered with a sunset flip to win the match and regain the title.

“There’s one thing that has always stuck out to me about this wrestling company. That one thing, that one word, is honor. The honor of the pro wrestling that takes place in this ring. And I’m proud to say that I am the enforcer of the best pro wrestling company on the planet.”

-- Bully Ray

-- “I’m ‘The Gatekeeper.’ ‘The Pretty Badass.’ The most dominant woman in wrestling. After over 800 days never being pinned or submitted, I am the obvious favorite to be the first Women of Honor Champion.”

-- Kelly Klein, prior to her match against “Bonesaw” Jessie Brooks

“‘Pretty Badass?’ Well I’m ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet.’”

-- “Bonesaw” Jessie Brooks, prior to her match against Kelly Klein

“I grew up watching wrestling with my twin brother and I got to see all these powerful, strong women do this intense sport, and I always knew one day if I could try that I could be good at that. I wanted to change the perception of women’s wrestling and show people that women aren’t eye candy and women aren’t sideshows, that we can be main events on TV, that we can be role models to little girls. So I think more so than being crowned a champion, it’s to show little girls that they can be anything they want.”

-- Deonna Purrazzo, prior to her match against Holidead

“People love to put on makeup to cover up who they truly are. I do this to show you exactly who I am.”

-- Holidead, prior to her match against Deonna Purrazzo

“Arrogance is a kingdom without a crown. You have a throne, a harem, you’ve even got that silly stick, and you’ve stolen my ring. But you are king of nothing, Matt Taven.”

-- Cody, on his match against Matt Taven at ROH 16th Anniversary

“Thank God that this is on pay-per-view for the whole world to see you pucker up and kiss the ring, b*tch.”

-- Matt Taven, on his match against Cody at ROH 16th Anniversary

“Machine Guns, we can’t be held responsible for what we do when we step between those ropes.”

-- Jay Briscoe, on his and Mark Briscoe’s match against ROH World Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns at ROH 16th Anniversary

“You’ve been here 16 years. There’s not going to be a 17th.”

-- Alex Shelley, on his and Chris Sabin’s match against The Briscoes at ROH 16th Anniversary

“Anniversaries are supposed to be about celebration, reminiscing the good times. Punishment Martinez, all it’s going to be for you is a spot of bother.”

-- Marty Scurll, on his match against Punishment Martinez at ROH 16th Anniversary

“At 16th Anniversary, Sin City, the world finds out that the so-called ‘Villain’ is just my next victim.”

-- Punishment Martinez, on his match against Marty Scurll at ROH 16th Anniversary

“This is my chance to get back what is rightfully mine.”

-- Jay Lethal, on his match against ROH World Champion Dalton Castle at ROH 16th Anniversary

“Jay Lethal, I’m real excited to get in that ring with you. … But don’t be confused. I’m still going to hit you with everything I’ve got to make sure I walk out of there still Ring of Honor World Champion.”

-- Dalton Castle, on his match against Jay Lethal at ROH 16th Anniversary

-- Dalton Castle and Jay Lethal vs. Punishment Martinez and Marty Scurll

-- The Briscoes vs. Best Friends

-- Christopher Daniels vs. Adam Page
