ROH 5 Count: Top Contenders To ROH World Title

The ROH World Title scene has really heated up as of late. Here’s a look at the top 5 contenders to Dalton Castle’s ROH World Championship:

By virtue of being the reigning, two-time ROH World Television Champion, Young automatically qualifies as a top contender for the richest prize in ROH. “The Last Real Man in Pro Wrestling” is certainly no stranger to Castle, as the two engaged in a heated rivalry in 2015-2016.

Whether or not one believes in The Kingdom Conspiracy, this much is certain: Taven is owed a shot at the ROH World Title since his scheduled match against Castle for the championship in Lowell, Mass., last month was called off due to the champion not being medically cleared to compete.

“The Franchise” of ROH is on a mission to regain the title he held for 427 days in 2015-2016. As he looks to earn another title shot, Lethal has vowed to defeat anyone who holds a recent victory over him. He’s off to a good start, having scored wins over Punishment Martinez, Mark Briscoe and Taven.

After falling just short against Castle in a title match at Supercard of Honor in April, Scurll earned another title shot by pinning Castle in a Defy or Deny Match eight days later. “The Villain” will get that shot at Best in the World on June 29 in a Triple Threat Match that includes his Bullet Club teammate Cody.

Consumed by his rivalry with Kenny Omega, Cody delayed his request for a rematch against Castle, who had defeated him for the ROH World Title at Final Battle in December, until now.
What Cody didn’t count on was Scurll throwing his top hat into the ring and making it a Triple Threat.

Will Cody become a two-time world champion at Best in the World, or will it be Scurll who brings the world title back to Bullet Club? Or will Castle overcome the odds and his injury issues to retain his title?
