ROH 5 Count: Title Changes in The UK

ROH championships will be defended on the upcoming Honor United UK tour, including the ROH World Title, as new champion RUSH puts his title on the line against Jeff Cobb on Oct. 27 in Bolton, England.

Will new champions be crowned on the tour? It wouldn’t be the first time. Here are five occasions in which ROH championships changed hands across the pond:

5. BRYAN DANIELSON DEFEATS NIGEL MCGUINNESS TO UNIFY ROH WORLD AND PURE TITLES (Aug. 12, 2006 in Liverpool, England)

ROH World Champion Danielson and ROH Pure Champion McGuinness were both approaching their one-year anniversary with their respective titles when they met in this unification match. Despite McGuinness having the “home-field” advantage over his arch rival, Daniels was the one who made history by unifying the two titles.

4. NARUKI DOI AND SHINGO DEFEAT THE BRISCOES FOR ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE (March 3, 2007 in Liverpool, England)

Dragon Gate stars Doi and Shingo upset The Briscoes to become the 15th team to hold the ROH World Tag Team Title, but the Japanese duo’s reign lasted just 27 days. The rematch took place in Detroit, and The Briscoes won it to capture their fourth (of 11) ROH World Tag Team Title.

3. WILL OSPREAY DEFEATS BOBBY FISH FOR ROH WORLD TV TITLE (Nov. 18, 2016 in Liverpool, England)

Ospreay, who was just 23 at the time, captured gold in his very first match with ROH, as he ended Fish’s 194-day reign on the Reach for the Sky tour. The native of Essex, England would not hold the title for long, however.

2. MARTY SCURLL DEFEATS WILL OSPREAY FOR ROH WORLD TV TITLE (Nov. 20, 2016 in London, England)

Just 48 hours after Ospreay won the ROH World Television Title, Scurll defeated his rival and fellow countryman for the championship in only his third match with ROH. “The Villain” would go on to hold the title for 175 days and make 11 successful title defenses.

1. THE YOUNG BUCKS AND ADAM PAGE DEFEAT DALTON CASTLE AND THE BOYS FOR ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TITLES (Aug. 20, 2017 in Edinburgh, Scotland)

The Young Bucks and Page -- known collectively as The Hung Bucks -- brought more gold to Bullet Club with their win over Castle and his Boys on the War of the Worlds tour. The Hung Bucks went on to hold the six-man tag titles for what was then a record 201 days (current six-man tag champions Villain Enterprises surpassed that mark a couple weeks ago).
