ROH 5 Count: Potential Dream Matches

After we get through this crisis and Ring of Honor resumes its live events, there is no shortage of potential dream matches that could become reality. Here are five dream matches we’d like to see go down in an ROH ring:

5. BRODY KING vs. DAN MAFF

King and Maff are two of the toughest, nastiest, no-nonsense competitors on the roster. Both are former co-holders of the ROH World Tag Team Title, but they’re also championship-caliber singles wrestlers. They have well-earned reputations as badass brawlers, but the 285-pound King and 280-pound Maff are both incredibly agile for their size. Just put these two in the ring together, make it an anything-goes match and sit back and watch the carnage.

4. PCO vs. VINCENT

Talk about a monster mash. The French-Canadian Frankenstein battling The Horror King is right out of a Universal Pictures classic horror movie. Former ROH World Champion PCO has proven to be almost indestructible, but psychopathic cult leader Vincent should never be underestimated. Not only will Vincent stop at nothing to win -- including using an axe as a weapon -- but he proved how talented he is in the ring by defeating former friend and ex-ROH World Champion Matt Taven.

3. DALTON CASTLE vs. JEFF COBB

These two top stars have been on the ROH roster together for more than a year and half, yet somehow they have never faced each other in a one-on-one match. We say it’s high time former ROH World Champion Castle and former ROH World Television Champion Cobb squared off. While Castle is flamboyant and Cobb is understated, they have similar in-ring styles. They’re two of the strongest competitors in ROH and both were accomplished amateur wrestlers.

2. DRAGON LEE vs. FLIP GORDON

Remember at Free Enterprise in February when Gordon won a No. 1 contender’s battle royal disguised as Lee? Surely that didn’t sit well with Lee, who was in Japan at the time. It’s just added more fuel to the bitter feud between La Faccion Ingobernable and Villain Enterprises. Even if there wasn’t any bad blood between them, a showdown between Lee and Gordon -- two of the most talented and exciting young stars in pro wrestling -- is still a must-see match and a main event anywhere.

1. RUSH vs. JAY LETHAL

It doesn’t get much bigger than the current and two-time ROH World Champion taking on “The Franchise of ROH.” RUSH has been nearly unbeatable since bursting onto the scene in ROH at the end of 2018, while Lethal -- a two-time former ROH World Champion and the record-holder for most days as champion -- has been the measuring stick in ROH for years. This match-up would pit the intensity and power of RUSH against the technical excellence and experience of Lethal. Would Lethal fall victim to Bull’s Horns like everyone else RUSH has faced? Or would “El Toro Blanco” be done in by a Lethal Injection? We’d love to find out!
