Ric Flair, Other Legends Come To HonorClub; Serena Deeb, Danhausen Join 'ROHStrong Podcast'

By Kevin Eck

Did you know that Ric Flair has stepped into an ROH ring? How about “The Ugandan Giant” Kamala and Bushwhacker Luke?

Believe it or not, all three of the legends appeared on ROH shows in 2009. Flair’s appearance and Kamala and Luke’s matches in ROH have been added to HonorClub for Fresh 50 Friday.

Flair sat ringside for the match between then-ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness and Brent Albright at the aptly named Stylin’ and Profilin event. Of course, “The Nature Boy” ended up getting in the ring and dishing out a few chops.

Kamala faced Bobby Dempsey at that year’s Supercard of Honor, while Luke took on Rhett Titus at Take No Prisoners. The matches weren’t five-star classics, but they put smiles on faces, as the saying goes.

There are plenty of outstanding matches included in this week’s Fresh 50 Friday, such as
Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega vs. Claudio Castagnoli in a three-way match, McGuinness vs. KENTA, and KENTA and El Generico vs. McGuinness and Davey Richards, to name a few.

Danhausen continues to pop up all over the place. The “very nice, very evil” wrestler has been finding his way onto the “ROH Week By Week” show on YouTube, much to the dismay of host Quinn McKay, and he also crashed the latest episode of the “ROHStrong Podcast,” which drops Monday (June 22) on ROHWrestling.com and most podcast platforms.

Just as I was about to wrap up the show, Danhausen somehow broke into the podcast and once again campaigned for a job with ROH. The segment concluded with an entertaining round of “10 Questions” with Danhausen.

The main guest on the podcast was Serena Deeb. She talked about her time as a coach at the WWE Performance Center and reflected on her in-ring career, including her matches in ROH. She also went in-depth about her famous head-shaving angle with CM Punk and discussed whether she will return to the ring.

As first announced on “ROH Week By Week,” ROH is dedicating an entire episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” to the late Hana Kimura next month. The tribute show will celebrate Hana’s life and feature some of her outstanding matches.

This weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” spotlights Bandido. Among the matches featured is the sensational bout between Bandido and Jay Briscoe from last September.

Silas Young and Josh Woods are best friends now -- well, Young is Woods’ best friend, anyway -- but that wasn’t always the case for 2 Guys 1 Tag.

Young and Woods recently sat down to watch their match against each at Survival of the Fittest in 2017. Hilarity ensued.

Don’t forget that “The Very Best of Best in the World” airs on pay-per-view tonight for the special price of $14.99.

The compilation show, which also will be streamed for all HonorClub members, features seven of the very best matches from past Best in the World events and includes commentary from current ROH stars as they watch along.

Here’s the “Very Best of Best in the World” lineup:

* Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly in a Hybrid Fighting Rules Match (2012)

* Kevin Steen vs. Matt Hardy in a No-Disqualification Match (2013)

* ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe vs. ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal in a Winner Take All Match (2015)

* Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong (2016)

* ROH World Television Champion KUSHIDA vs. Marty Scurll (2017)

* ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes vs. The Young Bucks (2018)

* ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises vs. LifeBlood (2019)

The ROH Pro Shop is running a “buy one wrestler t-shirt, get one free” deal.

Until next time, keep safe and stay #ROHStrong!
