New Japan’s King of Pro Wrestling Shapes Global Wars

Early Monday in the United States, fans across the globe tuned into New Japan World to watch New Japan’s King of Pro Wrestling 2017 event from Sumo Hall in Tokyo! This event was the last stop for many of the stars of New Japan Pro-Wrestling before they travel to the United States to compete in Ring of Honor and New Japan’s Global Wars Tour! Friday’s event emanating from Pittsburgh and Saturday’s event from Columbus will be streaming live and FREE to all Ringside Members while Sunday’s event from Chicago will stream and be available for purchase on and Fite.TV!

New champions were crowned, including a win by former ROH World Television Champion Will Ospreay! “The Aerial Assassin” returns to the United States as the NEW IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion after he defeated KUSHIDA. Ospreay became the first British-born star to capture the title. Ospreay competes on the Global Wars Tour against Punishment Martinez in a non-title grudge match in Buffalo, in six man tag matches with CHAOS versus Bullet Club and SUZUKI-GUN in Pittsburgh and Columbus respectively, and in a non-title, high-flying dream match against Flip Gordon in Chicago!

Ospreay’s CHAOS faction mates Hirook Goto and Toru Yano defeated SUZUKI-GUN’s Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr. after Yano low-blowed both members of SUZUKI-GUN! Yano, who returns to the United States on the Global Wars Tour, expects to do so with the NEVER Openweight Title in tow, after stealing it from Suzuki! The two will cross paths in a HUGE six-man tag team match in Columbus and Yano better be careful – he may have awoken a monster!

ROH World Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody formed a dream team in Japan when he teamed up with IWGP US Champion “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega and “The Villain” Marty Scurll to defeat a CHAOS team of Baretta, YOSHI-HASHI, and Jado! This trio, nicknamed “Luxury Trio” by New Japan’s official Twitter, will compete for the first time as a trio in the US in the main event in Pittsburgh against CHAOS’s Ospreay, YOSHI-HASHI, and Yano! It will be a big weekend for all involved, as Cody defends his ROH World Championship against KUSHIDA in Columbus, Omega resumes his rivalry with YOSHI-HASHI in one half of the Double Main Event in Chicago with the IWGP United States Title on the line for the first time in the US, and Scurll looks for an opportunity to extract revenge on Hiromu Takahashi, who himself was victorious at Sumo Hall!

And finally, Killer Elite Squad and War Machine continued their brutal rivalry, with the Killer Elite Squad retaining their IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team titles in a triple threat also including the Guerrillas of Destiny. KES and War Machine resume their war in the main event of Buffalo when KES teams with Minoru Suzuki against Mark Briscoe and War Machine, as well as a non-title tag team bout in Pittsburgh!

These competitors and so many more will compete on all four stops of the Global Wars Tour!  Titles will be on the line, feuds end, and dream matches contested – if you can’t join us live in the building, join us via the RINGSIDE MEMBERSHIP! Friday and Saturday’s events will stream live for FREE for Ringside Members! Sunday’s event from Chicago with a HUGE Double Main Event of Bullet Club vs. Search and Destroy and IWGP US Champion Kenny Omega defends against a man who defeated him in 2016, YOSHI-HASHI will be available to purchase live on and Fite.TV! Don’t miss the Global Wars Tour!
