Matt Sydal Reveals Details About His ROH Return On 'ROHStrong Podcast;' Shane Taylor Spotlighted On ROH TV; There Will Be Blood On 'Honor List'

By Kevin Eck
Matt Sydal revealed an exciting development regarding his imminent return to Ring of Honor on the latest episode of the “ROHStrong Podcast.”
Sydal had been scheduled to compete in a tag match at the ROH Past vs. Present show in March, but the event was canceled due to the pandemic. Sydal now has set his sights on a new goal in ROH.
Listen to the podcast, which drops on Monday, Aug. 10 on ROHWrestling.com and most podcast platforms, to find out the specifics from Sydal.
Other topics Sydal discussed with me on the podcast include: his previous runs in ROH; being mentored by AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels; his time in WWE, Dragon Gate and NJPW; and much more.
“ROH Week by Week” host Quinn McKay also appeared on the podcast to talk about her issue with Angelina Love, as well as the heated Twitter exchange she and I had, which stemmed from my comments about her in last week’s Eck’s Files.
Frankly, Kevin, I don’t give a damn about what you think I should do regarding Angel https://t.co/1lwpoB9pxD

Do you like matches in which blood is spilled? Then you should check out the latest “Honor List” on YouTube, which highlights the “7 Best Bloody Wars in Ring of Honor History.” CM Punk, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and the Briscoes are among the stars spotlighted in sanguinary showdowns.

Matches from Best of American Super Juniors Tournament in 2005 are among the bouts added to the HonorClub archives this week for “Fresh 50 Friday.” The tournament featured Bryan Danielson, Strong, Sydal, Spanky, James Gibson, Alex Shelley, Dragon Soldier B (aka Kendo Kashin) and Black Tiger.
Also added to the archives are matches from ROH Third Anniversary Nights 2 and 3, including: Danielson and Samoa Joe versus Generation Next (Austin Aries and Jack Evans); Punk versus Shelley; Nigel McGuinness and Colt Cabana (with Bobby “The Brain Heenan) versus Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer (with Jim Cornette); Joe versus Aries; and Danielson versus Homicide.

Details are being finalized for the next episode of the “ROH Roundtable” YouTube series. As with the debut episode, which was on the Black Lives Matter movement, the subject matter will be topical.

Former ROH World and IWGP Heavyweight tag team champions The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) appeared on “Happy Hour with The Bouncers” this week. All I can say is thank god -- no pun intended -- for the bleep button.
Check out our #HappyHour with G.O.D.! This did not go as planned... https://t.co/BJKGuc2OTb

Did you know the first French fries weren’t actually cooked in France? They were cooked in Greece. If a child refuses to sleep during nap time, are they guilty of resisting a rest?
Those are two of my favorite dad jokes. Speaking of which, the upcoming episode of “2 Guys 1 Show” features 2 Guys 1 Tag (Silas Young and Josh Woods) competing against the Briscoes in a dad jokes contest. Watch it on Instagram Live on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 12 p.m. ET and be prepared to laugh yourself silly.

“The Mecca” Brian Johnson asked me -- very politely, I might add -- to mention that he is presenting “Mecca Aid” on his Twitter and Instagram on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Johnson describes “Mecca Aid” as “a celebration of helping others.”
I don’t know what was in the potion that Johnson’s mentor, PJ Black, cooked up for him, but I’ll have what he’s having.
