Last Man Standing Match For The ROH World TV Championship Signed For Supercard Of Honor

A beer bottle and Beer City Bruiser ensured that the Ring of Honor World Television Championship changed hands at Final Battle. It was Bruiser that ran interference and a bottle that “Pro Wrestling’s Last Real Man” smashed over the head of then-Champion Kenny King that led to Young being able to pin King. Young went on to pin Punishment Martinez to capture the World TV Title, his first official championship in Ring of Honor, following Misery in a Four Corner’s Elimination Match.

Since then, King went on a mission to not only recapture the World Television Championship, but also extract revenge on Young! King would pin Young in Nashville when he teamed with Coast 2 Coast to take on Young, Bruiser, and Brian Milonas. In their first singles match, the Championship was on the line in Atlanta. ROH Enforcer Bully Ray dismissed Bruiser and Milonas from ringside and King regained the title in an instant classic.

The two had a rematch signed for 16th Anniversary where Young pinned King for well over three seconds while the referee was inadvertently knocked down and out. King would end up winning and that enflamed Young even further. On a recent episode of ROH Television, Young cost ROH World Champion Dalton Castle and World TV Champion King a Champion’s Challenge Tag Team match against ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes and the two couldn’t keep their hands off one another. ROH Enforcer Bully Ray came out to split the two rivals but it was King that had an idea: he wanted to beat Young once and for all in Young’s own specialty match, a Last Man Standing Match! And on the spot, both men agreed and ROHWrestling.com can confirm the match is set for Supercard of Honor!

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION KENNY KING vs. “PRO WRESTLING’S LAST REAL MAN” SILAS YOUNG

Kenny King gained considerable notoriety outside of the world of wrestling when he became an international sensation through his participation on The Bachelorette. King juggled his Ring of Honor schedule and family life to participate in the reality dating show and it was his family life that help him gain perspective. That perspective helped him accelerate an already-successful career into superstardom but also made King a target.

As expectations and pressure grew, so did King’s success. King captured the Ring of Honor World Television Championship from KUSHIDA at Death Before Dishonor 2017 in his hometown of Las Vegas. From there, King began dominating challengers, picking up wins against Josh Woods, Mark Briscoe, Caprice Coleman, Joey Ryan, and Scorpio Sky. King was undefeated in singles competition as ROH World Television Champion and looked to be on his way to starting the new year as ROH World TV Champ before a beer bottle in New York City changed all of that.

Silas Young, accompanied by Beer City Bruiser, came into Final Battle looking to make a splash. The man later christened by Colt Cabana as “Mr. Final Battle” earned a spot in a four-way elimination match for the World TV Title. Young leveraged Bruiser at ringside and a beer bottle over King’s head to pin the champion before pinning Punishment Martinez and winning the title.

Since then, Young and King have been fighting tooth and nail all across the country. In Philadelphia, King defeated “Kingpin” Brian Milonas in what may have been a set up when Milonas revealed himself to be part of a new trio formed by Young, Bruiser, and Milonas. In Nashville, King ran ringside to even the odds for Coast 2 Coast in their match against Bruiser and Milonas and to serve as the equalizer against Silas Young before the match was turned into a six-man match. King pinned the new World Television Champion following a Royal Flush.

King was granted his first one-on-one bout for the Championship in Atlanta against Young. ROH Enforcer Bully Ray dismissed Bruiser and Milonas from ringside and King and Young had an uninterrupted, instant classic for the ROH World Television Championship! King emerged victorious and became just the third ROH star to capture the ROH World Television Championship twice.

The two met for the second time in one-on-one competition at 16th Anniversary in about added late as a special attraction to ROH’s 16th Anniversary seen on Pay Per View and for HonorClub. Young was granted a rematch and had the match won with a visual pinfall on King but ultimately, King prevailed after the referee was not able to count the three for Young.

These two look to settle the score perhaps once and for all in front of the biggest crowd in ROH history in New Orleans at Supercard of Honor! Is King making a mistake issuing a challenge to Young for Young’s signature match? Young is 2-0 in Last Man Standing matches, including a huge win over Jay Lethal at Death Before Dishonor but King is an elite athlete, one of just three men to ever hold the ROH World Television Championship twice!
