On March 4, 2017 at Manhattan Mayhem, the sold-out crowd inside Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom gasped as the lights went out after The Young Bucks had successfully defended their ROH World Tag Team Title. When the lights came back on, the now-murmuring crowd erupted with a roar that filled the building.
In a truly surreal moment, The Young Bucks found themselves standing face to face with Matt and Jeff Hardy. The Hardys challenged The Young Bucks to put their belts on the line right then and there, and the champions accepted.
As two of the greatest tag teams in the sport stood across from each other, the frenzied crowd chanted, “Holy s***!” in anticipation. Through a twist of fate (pun intended), the dream match had become reality.
After some back-and-forth action, Matt Hardy hit a Twist of Fate, Jeff Hardy followed with a Swanton Bomb, and just like that the Hardys were the new ROH World Tag Team Champions.
