Eck's Files: Violence Versus Pure Matchups Set; Pure Champion Josh Woods To Defend Title Against LSG; Briscoes Change The Game

By Kevin Eck

The matchups are set for the huge Violence vs. Pure episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of Oct. 23.

In the main event, two former ROH World Champions will square off when Violence Unlimited’s Homicide takes on The Foundation’s Jay Lethal.

These two have faced each other many times going all the way back to 2002 when they met in a dark match at the inaugural Final Battle.

Homicide re-introduced himself to Lethal after a seven-year absence in ROH by hitting a Gringo Killer on him at the end of the 19th Anniversary show earlier this year.

In the other matchups, VU’s Brody King and Chris Dickinson face The Foundation’s Jonathan Gresham and Tracy Williams in tag team action, and VU’s Tony Deppen meets The Foundation’s Rhett Titus.

New ROH Pure Champion Josh Woods will make his first title defense against LSG on the Championship Edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling in a few weeks.

As announced in last week’s Eck’s Files, the show is headlined by an ROH World Title Match between champion Bandido and Alex Zayne.

The Briscoes had the wrestling world buzzing last weekend after showing up at a Game Changer Wrestling event in Atlantic City, N.J., to issue a challenge to GCW Tag Team Champions Second Gear Crew (Mance Warner and Matthew Justice).

The title match was signed and will take place at GCW’s War Ready in Los Angeles on Oct. 23.

Willow was my guest on the latest episode of The ROHStrong Podcast, which drops this Monday morning on and most podcast platforms.

She talked about the possibility of facing Rok-C for the ROH Women’s World Championship at Final Battle; being a role model for young girls; suffering a broken neck in the ring and going through the recovery process; attending a Women of Honor seminar several years ago, and much more. Plus, she demonstrates her hidden talent!

Speaking of Willow, the Triple Threat Contenders Match she won over Angelina Love and Miranda Alize will be replayed on next week’s episode of Women’s Division Wednesday, which premieres at 7 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.

Willow meets the winner of next month’s Triple Threat Match between Allysin Kay, Trish Adora and Mandy Leon to determine who challenges Rok-C at the Final Battle pay-per-view on Dec. 11 in Baltimore.

Joe “The Answer” Hendry will face former ROH Pure Champion Doug Williams in a Pure Rules Match at Wrestle Carnival’s Carnival Mania on Nov. 14 in Nottingham, England.

Update from Down Under: Adam Brooks is now a triple champion.

The Australian star, who signed with ROH at the end of 2019 but has yet to compete in ROH due to the pandemic, won the vacant Southern Territory Wrestling Championship in Perth, Western Australia on Oct. 2. A week later, Brooks became the inaugural Riot City Wrestling Emerald Crown Champion in Adelaide, South Australia.

Brooks has been the reigning Melbourne City Wrestling World Champion since July.

This weekend’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling is headlined by an ROH World Tag Team Title Match between champions Dragon Lee and Kenny of La Faccion Ingobernable and Soldiers of Savagery (Moses and Kaun) of Shane Taylor Promotions.

Also on the show, The Foundation (Lethal, Gresham, Williams and Titus) will meet Eli Isom, Taylor Rust, World Famous CB and Joe Keys in an eight-man tag match.

Brian Milonas, the self-proclaimed best pound-for-pound Pure wrestler in the world, will face Eric Martin in a Pure Rules Match on the next ROH Week By Week, which premieres on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.

A new episode of Roleplay of Honor premieres on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.

Until next time, keep safe and stay #ROHStrong!
