Eck's Files: Maria Kanellis-Bennett To Make Two Announcements After Mandy Leon Was Caught Red-Handed; Three Women’s Tournament Matches Announced For TV

By Kevin Eck

The Allure’s Angelina Love and Mandy Leon are smart enough to know that a referee’s decision is final. Therefore, Leon’s tainted win over Quinn McKay on Ring of Honor Wrestling last week cannot be overturned.

However, Love and Leon also should be smart enough to know that ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett isn’t going to turn a blind eye to their actions.

After all, Kanellis-Bennett was sitting in on commentary when Love passed brass knuckles to Leon, who nailed McKay in the head with them and pinned her.

Kanellis-Bennett tweeted earlier this week that she will make two announcements regarding the incident. Expect the announcements to come early next week.

McKay needed to defeat Leon to earn the final spot in the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament. As of now, that spot remains open.

The tournament kicks off on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of July 31 with the following first-round matchups:

* Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia

* Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy

* Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C

Speaking of Savoy, she was my guest on the latest episode of the ROHStrong Podcast, which drops Monday morning on and most podcast platforms.

“The Queen of Suplexes” and former Shimmer Champion talked about what winning the ROH Women’s World Title would mean to her; her prior experience in ROH; suffering a torn ACL during her WWE tryout; the story behind Big Swole and Lil Swole; being a self-proclaimed nerd, and much more.

The “Celebrity Family Feud” episode featuring Dalton Castle airs Sunday on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern. The former ROH World Champion is a member of former WCW World Champion David Arquette’s team of pro wrestlers.

They’ll be facing Paul “Pee-wee Herman” Reubens’ team, which is composed of Reubens’ friends, including WWE Hall of Famer Drew Carey.

I’m trying to get Castle to be a guest on the ROHStrong Podcast, but when I reached out to him, he said: “I’m busy. Have your people call my people.”

I don’t have people.

It’s a big weekend for Castle, as he also will be in the main event of Ring of Honor Wrestling.

Castle, Eli Isom and Dak Draper will square off in a triple threat match. Also on the episode: PCO takes on Sledge in a battle of powerhouses, and Flip Gordon faces World Famous CB.

Here’s something I never expected to see: Brian "Don't Call Me Brawler Anymore" Milonas in a Pure Rules Match.

Milonas, who apparently is on a mission to prove he is a great pure wrestler, will face Joe Keys on ROH Week By Week, which premieres on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.

The Glory By Honor shows at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena Aug. 20-21 are going to be must-see.

Here are the matches announced thus far:

* ROH World Title Match: Champion Bandido vs. Gordon

* ROH Pure Title Match: Champion Jonathan Gresham (w/Jay Lethal) vs. Rhett Titus (w/Tracy Williams)

* Violence Unlimited (Brody King, Tony Deppen, Chris Dickinson and Homicide) vs. La Facción Ingobernable (RUSH, Dragon Lee, Kenny King and Bestia Del Ring)

* Steel Cage Match: Matt Taven vs. Vincent (Taven’s ROH World Title shot is at stake)

* Bandido and Rey Horus vs. RUSH and Dragon Lee

* Violence Unlimited (B. King, Deppen, Dickinson and Homicide) vs. The Foundation (Lethal, Gresham, Williams and Titus)

* Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Gordon & Demonic Flamita

The bitter feud between Taven and Vincent is chronicled in an article titled “A Tale of Blood, Betrayal and Brutality: The Road to the Last Stand Between Matt Taven and Vincent.”
