Dak Draper, Austin Gunn Square Off In Top Prospect Final In Las Vegas

Either Dak Draper or Austin Gunn will hit the jackpot in Las Vegas on Sept. 28, as one of them will leave Sin City with an ROH contract in hand and a shot at the ROH World Television Title guaranteed.

The two blue chippers will meet in the Top Prospect Tournament final at Death Before Dishonor Fallout. The match will stream live for HonorClub.

Past TPT winners include current ROH World Champion Matt Taven, and TPT alumni include former ROH World Champions Dalton Castle, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, as well as Silas Young, Adam Page, Jonathan Gresham and Punishment Martinez, among others.

Draper advanced to the final by defeating Makita and Haitian Sensation in the first round and semifinals, respectively. Gunn, the son of Hall of Famer Billy Gunn, beat Brian Johnson and Dante Caballero.

The cocky Draper, a Colorado native who refers to himself as “The Mile High Magnum,” possesses an awesome combination of size and athleticism. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, Draper was an all-state football player and state champion wrestler in high school and wrestled for Chadron State, a Division II wrestling powerhouse in Nebraska. After college, Draper began his pro wrestling training at the WWE Performance Center before ultimately making his way to the new ROH Dojo and Future of Honor

Despite Draper having the size and experience advantage, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound Gunn has proved that he’s more than capable of winning the tournament. He knocked off two of the favorites to win it in Johnson and Caballero.

Gunn began training under his father at the Team 3D Academy after graduating from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., in 2017. He made his pro wrestling debut after only two months of training. In just his fifth match, Gunn competed in a battle royal before a crowd of 11,623 at the All In pay-per-view in Chicago. Like Draper, Gunn continued his training at the ROH Dojo.

Draper likes to taunt his opponents by saying “shame on you,” but the “Son of a Gunn” will undoubtedly have two words for him in response. Which of them will have the last word in Las Vegas?
