The Ring of Honor World Champion has been vulnerable for months. Facing injury and adversity since winning the Championship from Cody at Final Battle, Castle has fought valiantly through previously-undisclosed back, neck, hand, and finger injuries to defeat top ROH stars like Punishment Martinez, Jay Lethal, Marty Scurll, and more in main event matches with the title on the line.
But Castle’s international defense schedule, which has included stops in North America, Asia, and Europe in its first five months, has accumulated not only landmark wins establishing Castle as a great champion but also a series of nagging injuries with almost no time to be taken off. In non-title action, Castle has recently been pinned by Marty Scurll and former ROH World Champion Cody, had to postpone a World Title defense against Matt Taven, and is scheduled to defend his championship against EVIL in London.
Castle is signed to compete in New York at ROH’s international television taping against a CMLL legend and should he return from the UK World Champion, a reasonable question mark at this point, it will be for the ROH World Championship!

ROH WORLD CHAMPION DALTON CASTLE W/THE BOYS (IF CHAMPION) vs. ULTIMO GUERRERO
On HonorClub’s inaugural broadcast, this year’s Manhattan Mayhem, CMLL stars Ultimo Guerrero and Volador Jr. returned to ROH to compete in a tag team match teaming with World Champion Castle and his then-16th Anniversary challenger Jay Lethal. On opposite sides of the bout, Guerrero and Castle traded blows throughout the match but nothing seemingly came of it until the match was over.
With Lethal and Castle staring each other down just a week before their HonorClub VIP showdown, Guerrero, a former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion himself, stole the ROH World Championship briefly before handing it back. At the time, Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana speculated that Guerrero may want a title shot.
Three months later, at ROH’s international television taping in New York, Guerrero will get that chance! In addition to his legendary status, Guerrero has pinfall victories over two current ROH Champions in ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Matt Taven and former ROH World Champion and current ROH World Tag Team Champion Jay Briscoe on last year’s War of the Worlds – UK Tour. These victories are more than enough to earn himself a match with Dalton Castle, of which he will get regardless, and the Championship will be on the line at ROH’s international television taping in NYC if Castle defeats EVIL and retains the ROH World Championship!
