The undefeated 2 Guys 1 Tag (Silas Young and Josh Woods) won their biggest match yet, as they knocked off 11-time former ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay and Mark Briscoe in a No. 1 Contender’s Match at Final Battle Fallout at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia Sunday night.
2G1T will face new ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham at a date TBA. Lethal and Gresham won the belts from the Briscoes at Final Battle on Dec. 13.
The champions made their presence known in the No. 1 Contender’s Match. As the Briscoes were setting up for the Doomsday Device on Woods, Lethal came down to the ring to distract the referee while Gresham pushed Mark Briscoe off the top rope to the floor. Woods then hit a rolling wheelbarrow suplex into a bridge on Jay Briscoe for the win.
It appeared that Woods and Young were unaware of the interference from Lethal and Gresham.
Judging by Lethal and Gresham’s actions, it seems as if they’d rather defend the title against 2G1T than the Briscoes. If that’s the case, it’s a curious decision since Lethal and Gresham have beaten the Briscoes but lost to 2G1T, who are now 7-0.
It was an especially big weekend for Woods, who pinned former ROH World Champion Dalton Castle in 2G1T’s win over Castle and Joe Hendry at Final Battle before pinning two-time former ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe Sunday night.
