NEW YORK -- Manhattan Mayhem truly lived up to its name, thanks in large part to an insane main event inside Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom Saturday night in which the Briscoes defeated The Guerrillas of Destiny in a New York City Street Fight to become 11-time ROH World Tag Team Champions.

That match had the raucous crowd on its feet throughout and put an exclamation point on an outstanding night of action. The appreciative crowd chanted “ROH! ROH! ROH!” at the end of the evening, as ROH proved once again why it’s “the best wrestling on the planet.”

In other bouts at Manhattan Mayhem: Kenny King talked into his way into making the ROH World Title Match between champion Matt Taven and Jay Lethal a Triple Threat; LifeBlood and PJ Black tangled with Villain Enterprises in an eight-man tag match; and more!

Dragon Lee vs. Jonathan Gresham

These two engaged in a chopfest on multiple occasions during the match. At the end of one such exchange, Gresham risked disqualification by delivering a chop that was below the belt. When Gresham low-blowed Silas Young at last month’s Best in the World pay-per-view, it was viewed as payback because Young had done the same to him in previous matches, but there was no justification for Gresham cheap-shotting Lee. Gresham remained aggressive and began stomping Lee in the corner.

Later, Lee and Gresham repeatedly slapped each other in the face while perched on the top turnbuckle. Lee hit a double stomp off the top onto Gresham, who was hung up in the ropes. Lee followed with two successive running knee strikes to the head to finish off Gresham in an exciting, hard-hitting opening bout.

Kenny King talks his way into title match

ROH World Champion Matt Taven came to the ring and said that his seven-year rivalry with Jay Lethal comes to an end tonight. King interrupted. King noted that he is owed a title match because of winning the Honor Rumble at G1 Supercard, and he told Taven to add him to his match against Lethal. He said Taven needs to prove who the real king is in ROH. Taven rattled off the challengers he’s already defeated and said he’s fine with adding King to the match. After King left, an irate Lethal came out and got in Taven’s face. They came to blows and had to be separated by security.

Coast 2 Coast (LSG and Shaheem Ali) vs. The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser and Brawler Milonas) vs. Soldiers of Savagery (Moses and Kaun)

The match quickly broke down into all six men brawling. SOS double chokeslammed Bruiser through the ringside table, and the referee ejected them from the match. Ali hit a frog splash on Milonas for a near fall. The Bouncers battled back and hit Closing Time on Ali for the win.

After the match, The Kingdom (TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia) attacked The Bouncers from behind with chairs. O’Ryan and Marseglia took a seat on the chairs after leaving The Bouncers lying. Marseglia said The Bouncers are the No. 1 contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Titles, but The Kingdom should’ve been No. 1 contenders a long time ago. Marseglia lit a cigar and burned Bruiser’s chest with it. He and O’Ryan shared some whisky.

O’Ryan got on the microphone and called out RUSH, his scheduled opponent.

TK O’Ryan vs. RUSH

RUSH had the early advantage before O’Ryan nailed him with a hard punch to the face outside the ring that stopped him in his tracks. O’Ryan hit three successive suplexes and a spinebuster for a near fall. RUSH fired up and repeatedly tossed O’Ryan into the barricades. RUSH hit an overhead throw into the corner and followed with Bull’s Horns for the win.

After the match, RUSH fist-bumped fans at ringside. A “fan” wearing a RUSH mask hopped the rail and began assaulting RUSH. He tossed RUSH into the ring and hit Bull’s Horns. The “fan” removed his mask to reveal it was Dalton Castle.

ROH World Title Triple Threat Match: Champion Matt Taven vs. Jay Lethal vs. Kenny King

Before the match began, Lethal demanded ringside attendant Amy Rose -- whose interference at Best in the World cost Lethal the match and the best-of-three series with King -- be sent to the back. This was non-stop action with all three competitors hitting one impactful move after another, both inside and outside the ring. King hit a double blockbuster on Taven and Lethal. He covered Lethal for a near fall, and then Taven for a near fall.

Lethal hit Lethal Injection on Taven, but Taven kicked out just in time. King hit Lethal Injection on Lethal and followed up with Royal Flush on Lethal. Before King could make a cover, Taven planted King with Climax and covered Lethal for the win.

After the match, Lethal offered to shake Taven’s hand. Taven accepted the handshake, then kicked Lethal low.

LifeBlood (Bandido, Mark Haskins and “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams) and PJ Black vs. Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO, Brody King and Flip Gordon)

Gordon, who double-crossed LifeBlood and joined Villain Enterprises at Best in the World, flipped off Bandido and immediately tagged out instead of locking up. Later, Gordon tagged in and got some shots in on Williams before quickly tagging out again. PCO went for a crossbody off the top rope, but Bandido caught the much larger PCO and slammed him. Bandido hit a corkscrew dive off the top rope onto three of his opponents outside the ring. Gordon entered the ring with a chair, but Williams took it from him and chased him to the back.

PCO hit a moonsault off the top rope to the floor onto a pile of competitors. Bandido planted PCO with a Canadian Destroyer on the apron. King hit a sit-out powerbomb on Haskins for a near fall. Bandido hit 21 Plex on King, and Black followed with a 450 Splash on King for the victory.

New York City Street Fight for ROH World Tag Team Titles: Jay and Mark Briscoe vs. Champions Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa)

As expected, an all-out brawl erupted from the opening bell, as both teams used chairs, kendo sticks and tables. Mark Briscoe got a running start and used a chair inside the ring to flip himself over the top rope onto Loa, who went crashing through a table. Later, Loa returned the favor by slamming Mark through a table, and he also tossed Mark off the top turnbuckle onto several chairs. The Briscoes hit Redneck Boogie on Tonga on a chair for a near fall. Loa powerbombed Mark off the apron onto Jay Briscoe on a table outside the ring. G.O.D. hit Magic Killer on Mark on chairs for a near fall.

Mark brought a ladder into the ring. Jay put Tonga on his shoulders, and Mark came off the top of the ladder with a flying clothesline that sent Tonga crashing through a table in the ring. Mark covered Tonga for the three count, as the Briscoes won the ROH World Tag Team Titles for the 11th time. G.O.D. remains the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
