Everyone is trying to find their silver lining through what is undoubtedly the toughest situation we’ve all faced in our lifetime. Extra time with family, getting those home improvement projects done, reading more, catching up on your favorite shows. Whatever it is, find your silver lining! For me (and probably for many ROH stars) the silver lining is an opportunity to let your body heal. It’s well documented that there’s not much of an offseason in wrestling, and while ROH has the most favorable schedule amongst any major U.S. promotions, I do still work an aggressive schedule on the independents.
If you’re a pro wrestling fan, it’s safe for you to assume that most of us are going through some physical pain. I’m no different. The last few years have been the busiest of my life. Believe it or not, the worst part physically for me isn’t the wrestling, it’s the being crammed into airplanes and cars. There’s an old joke amongst wrestlers that you get paid to travel and wrestle for free. On my end, I’ve been dealing with some intense back and foot issues. For me, this unexpected time off has become a time to get physically healthy and ready to go for what will be a fun and intense second half of 2020.
Already I’ve been able to see a chiropractor regularly along with starting yoga for the first time in my life. This is shaping up to be the most time off I’ve had in years, and while I miss wrestling, I’m looking forward to feeling as close to 100% as I possibly can for the first time in a long time. Now, with all this rehab and prehab I’m doing, if I could just lay off the beer and snacks, I’ll be OK! Stay safe and sane out there. I’ll check in again soon. Till then, stay home and watch some HonorClub!
