Vinny Marseglia is a competitor that became familiar to Ring of Honor fans through outstanding televised efforts against some of Ring of Honor’s top stars. Following a bout where Marseglia nearly beat the eventual 2016 Top Prospect Tournament Winner Lio Rush despite wrestling with a separated shoulder, Marseglia came within an eyelash of defeating then-ROH World Champion Jay Lethal in a Proving Ground Match in front of his hometown West Warwick, RI fans.
That’s all Matt Taven needed to see.
The former ROH World Television and Tag Team Champion Taven saw that Marseglia and his trademark #INKSANITY had all of the tools to be a star in Ring of Honor. While proclaiming to reform the Kingdom in his image, Taven called upon Marseglia and TK O’Ryan to enter the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Tournament. The Kingdom would defeat Bullet Club and a team of CMLL all-stars on episodes of ROH Wrestling before defeating Jay White, KUSHIDA, and Lio Rush at Final Battle 2016 to become the inaugural ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions.
The trio has been dominant since capturing the championships, in no small part due to the unpredictable Marseglia, who says he’s “doing a little something called whatever (he) wants.” Inked from head to toe, Marseglia is the wild card of the Kingdom and perhaps the trio’s most dangerous member as the embark on a series of title defenses that they are calling “The Purple Reign Tour”.
