When Matt Taven declared that he would be returning from injury and reforming the Kingdom in his image, speculation ran rampant for months as to who he would select to carry on the Kingdom’s legacy. In the end, Taven turned to men he felt he could trust. TK O’Ryan, a former NCAA Division 1 catcher at the College of the Holy Cross, was top of mind.
O’Ryan, known as the “Sassy Wild Horse” and the self-proclaimed “Best Around” made his ROH debut in Lowell, MA teaming with Taven and #INKSANITY Vinny Marseglia to defeat the ROH World Champion Adam Cole and ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks in the first round of the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Tournament. The trio went on to defeat a team of CMLL stars and then the trio of Lio Rush, Jay White, and KUSHIDA at Final Battle to become the first-ever title holders.
The brash, young athlete took just two years from the time he began training until he made his ROH debut, as the former baseball standout took quickly to the squared circle. At 6’3”, 205 lbs, O’Ryan possesses deceptive strength in addition to his in-ring explosiveness and has been pegged as a future singles star. For now, O’Ryan joins Taven and Marseglia defending the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships on what they are calling “The Purple Reign Tour” when they aren’t busy calling ROH stars and fans alike “Melvins”.
