Nigel McGuinness is unquestionably a legend in the ROH history books.  Not only was he the longest reigning Pure Champion in ROH history, but he also is the 2nd longest reigning World champion in company history with a single title run spanning 545 days and racking up a record (tied with Bryan Danielson) of 38 successful title defenses.  Battling through injury after injury, McGuinness' tenure as World Champion stands as testament to how much importance that title holds and how much a competitor is willing to sacrifice to hold that belt. McGuinness returned to the Ring of Honor during the 1st episode of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV to join Kevin Kelly at the announcer's table and lend his years of experience to the color commentary.

Now, in a move largely decided by the members of the locker room, Nigel has assumed the role of ROH's authority figure as well as that of the official match maker in lieu of Jim Cornette stepping down from that position.  With sweeping announcements made on the day of his installation in that position, the future under the guidance of McGuinness is certain to be an interesting one...
