One of the most powerful wrestlers in the sport, “The Unbreakable Michael Elgin” has made a huge impact in ROH as well as in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Elgin, who benches over 500 pounds and squats over 700, is a former ROH World Champion and the only two-time winner of the Survival of the Fittest tournament.
The Toronto, Ontario native initially made his mark in ROH as a member of Truth Martini’s House of Truth in 2010. With Martini by his side, Elgin won the 2011 SOTF tournament.
He severed ties with The House of Truth in 2012 and engaged in a heated rivalry with former stablemate Roderick Strong. Elgin defeated Strong in a two-out-of-three falls match at the 11th Anniversary Show in March 2013.
Later that year, in a tournament to fill the vacant ROH World Championship, Elgin made it to the finals, where he lost to Adam Cole.
Elgin went on to defeat Cole for the title at Best in the World 2014. He made seven successful title defenses before being dethroned by Jay Briscoe.
Elgin won his second SOTF tournament in 2015, pinning Briscoe in a five-way elimination match in the finals.
A favorite of the Japanese fans, Elgin won his first title in NJPW at Invasion Attack 2016, when he, Tanahashi and Yoshitatsu defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) to become the NEVER Openweight 6-Man tag Team Champions.
