Breaking into professional wrestling on the New England independent scene in 2006, all Matt Taven wanted was opportunity. Debuting in Ring of Honor in 2010, Matt Taven would struggle while searching for that opportunity through 2012. When opportunity presented itself in 2013, Matt Taven made the most of it!

In January 2013 it was announced that he was given entrance into the prestigious ROH Top Prospect Tournament, Taven needed to seize this chance to prove that he in fact belonged in ROH.  Defeating ACH, Silas Young and ultimately Tadarius Thomas in the finals, Ring of Honor saw the arrival of their next break out star. Taven arrived, but he wasn't alone. He won with the assistance of the devious Truth Martini, shocking fans as he was announced as the newest member of The House of Truth.

With Winning the Top Prospect Tournament, Martini negotiated a ROH Television Title shot for Taven against then champion Adam Cole. In shocking fashion Matt Taven defeated Cole to win his first championship in Ring of Honor.

As the crown jewel of The House of Truth, Taven would go on to hold the championship a record setting 287 days. Defeating such contenders as Matt Hardy, Adam Cole and Mark Briscoe to name a few.

Watching his reign progress, problems with Martini appeared to be brewing. As fans watched his confidence grow, it appeared he needed less and less of Martini's guidance.

At Final Battle 2013 a clearly distracted Taven lost his Television Championship to Tommaso Ciampa. In the following days, Taven made it public that he was leaving the House of Truth. Martini ever the manipulator attempted to keep Taven in the HOT, but this was all part of a his master plan.

Taven was blindsided by Jay Lethal, who shocked everyone by aligning himself with Truth Martini. Lethal joining the HOT set off a chain of events that saw he and Taven tear into each other. This intense rivalry lead to a steel cage match at Field of Honor in August 2014. Taven appeared to be closing in on regaining the Television Championship, but Martini stepped ahead of fate and assisted in helping Lethal retain his championship.

On August 19, 2014 Taven announced via social media that he could not come to terms with Ring of Honor on a new contract and he would be leaving the promotion. While he was away his friends, Former ROH World Champion Adam Cole, Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis formed a unit known as "The Kingdom". This group started advertising a return of "Matt".  All indications that the "Matt" was former running mate Matt Hardy.

On September 27, 2014 in Wheeling, West Virginia Matt Taven returned to Ring of Honor. It wasn't the same Taven who looked for the fans approval, he was much different. Returning during a Jay Briscoe ROH World Championship defense against Mike Bennett,  Taven left the fans shocked as he hit Briscoe over the head with the Title of Love. Taven stood tall with a giant arrogant smile along side Cole, Bennett and Kanellis. The Kingdom had arrived.

In November 2014, it was announced The Kingdom was asked to take part In the very prestigious New Japan Pro Wrestling World Tag League tournament. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, along with Maria Kanellis accepted the invitation on behalf of The Kingdom. A new world to conquer awaits them!

As a singles competitor or in tag team action, Taven has the confidence and talent to be a franchise. The former Top Prospect Tournament winner has definitely proven he has all the tools to be a major player in Ring of Honor for a very long time!
