Competing sporadically after his debut, Edwards & Davey Richards would form The American Wolves in the closing months of 2008. That would prove to be the first defining moment of his ROH career as the duo exploded onto the tag team scene with their hard hitting, aggressive style, and claimed the ROH World Tag Titles for 8 months. After losing the belts that Edwards began to define himself as a solo competitor, culminating in defeating his own partner to become the 1st ever ROH TV Champion.
The next defining moment of Eddie’s career when Eddie defeated Roderick Strong to claim the ROH World Title and become the first ever Triple Crown Champion in ROH history. Known as “Die Hard” for his ability to absorb punishment and never giving up, Edwards has twice suffered injuries that would have shelved your average competitor, yet he used them as motivation to fight on, and win. A shattered elbow prior to a Ladder War didn’t stop him from successfully defending the Tag Titles, nor did a severely dislocated shoulder prevent him from winning “Survival of the Fittest 2010” and earning the shot at the World Title he would successfully cash in months later. His title reign came to an end at “Best in the World 2011” when Davey defeated him but Eddie remained in the title picture, challenging once more unsuccessfully at “Final Battle 2011”. Forever in the title picture, Edwards is the poster child for how hard work & dedication pay off…
