  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 57 Preview

With just eight days until SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 brings Ring of Honor home to Philadelphia, there are two episodes of ROH ON HONOR CLUB left for the competitors to make their statements! In the aftermath of losing the AEW Continental Championship to Kazuchika Okada, ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston made his intentions for Mark Briscoe known as they had towards their clash on April 5th, and we now know that Billie Starkz will take on Queen Aminata to crown the first ROH Women's World Television Champion! In addition, that night Hikaru Shida and ROH Women's World Champion Athena will collide with The Fallen Goddess' championship on the line, but there's plenty more to come, and a wealth of competitors all looking to earn a spot on ROH's premiere event! During this week's edition of ROH ON HONOR CLUB, we will see ROH Women's World Champion Athena in action, Kiera Hogan look to even the score with Diamante, a wild Trios Match, Dalton Castle in action, and plenty more! Plus we will hear from Hikaru Shida ahead of her fight with Athena, Maria's Baby Boys will be in action, and it all goes down this Thursday night beginning at 7pm ET/6pm CT exclusively on Honor Club! Not only is Honor Club your home for more than 20 years of professional wrestling history, but it is also the only place where you can see SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 on Friday night April 5th! ROH WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPION ATHENA IN ACTION! It's official: ROH Women's World Champion Athena will defend her title against former 3-Time AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 live on Honor Club come April 5th! It's not a situation that makes “The Fallen Goddess” very happy, after all ten years ago in their only singles match, Shida defeated Athena in front of the fans inside the Berwyn Eagles Club, and ROH's self-proclaimed “Forever Champion” has clearly not let go of that fact. Perhaps the anger she's feeling about that situation that's led Athena to step into the ring this Thursday night for Proving Ground action! She's definitely looking for some piece of porcelein to smash, but that anger might prove her undoing if taking a match so close to a huge championship fight results in a loss, or worse, an injury. As for whoever steps into the ring with Athena, this is a huge opportunity for one woman to set themselves up for a championship match coming out of SOH '24, and it's also a grand opportunity for Shida to scout just how far her opponent has come since their meeting a decade ago! ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH... Kyle Fletcher(c) vs. “All Heart” Blake Christian When he became the 31st ROH World Television Champion at FINAL BATTLE 2023, Kyle Fletcher said he was making it his mission to become the greatest TV Champion in history. It was a pretty bold statement to make on the heels of Samoa Joe's record-breaking 574 day reign atop the division, also one to make considering Jay Lethal's second reign boasted 36 successful championship defenses, but it just meant to Fletcher had to get straight to work to make his mark with a title that had been held by Roderick Strong, Adam Cole, Matt Taven, Shane Taylor, and Christopher Daniels, to name a handful. Fletcher got off to a hot start with three successful defenses in three weeks, including one over “The Fallen Angel”, but then Don Callis Family business pulled him away from that mission, and it's now been more than two months since the last time Fletcher put the World TV Title on the line. That changes this Thursday night on Honor Club when Kyle welcomes the challenge of “All Heart” Blake Christian! That heart is why Christian has stepped up to this challenge, just as he did when he challenged Samoa Joe last May, when he challenged Claudio Castagnoli in January 2023, and when he challenged The Embassy for Six-Man gold at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2023. Blake Christian is a man willing to take the risks, to seize an opportunity, and so he steps up to the table once more to go all in as SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 approaches! Will we see Kyle Fletcher dethroned so close to ROH's marquee event, or will Blake Christian fall before the reigning champion? And if Blake is the next to taste defeat before Fletcher, will anyone step up to the challenge to April 5th live on Honor Club? LOST... Dalton Castle vs. Nick Comoroto As if Dalton Castle wasn't already on edge from his pursuit of punching Johnny TV's face, he's completely lost any semblance of composure since losing The Boys to Johnny and Taya Valkyrie a few weeks ago. To pile bad news onto bad news, Dalton just found out that The Boys are missing, there were possibly bears involved, and Johnny TV has absolutely no idea where they might be! Sure there's alternate Boys, the single use Boys as Dalton referred to them, but they aren't The Boys and their absence is pushing Dalton to the limits of his sanity. It seems even the every-patient Lexy Nair has had her fill of Castle's behavior, and now the former ROH World Champion has to compete inside the squared circle this Thursday night! Nick Comoroto has been looking for his purpose as of late, perhaps he can find it with Jacoby Watts, or perhaps he can get there with a victory over Dalton Castle, a man who has held the World, Television, and Six-Man crowns in Ring of Honor! This is as good a time as any for Comoroto to score this upset, Castle is far from being at the peak of his game, so will this be Nick's night to begin his rise up the card? ONE-ON-ONE... Diamante vs. Kiera Hogan The first round of the AEW Women's World TV Title Tournament saw Diamante eliminate Kiera Hogan from the field, but Diamante would find herself out of the championship hunt a few weeks later thanks to finalist Billie Starkz. It was disappointing for both Diamante and Kiera to be knocked out of contention, but that doesn't mean their hunger to become the ROH Women's World TV Champion just disappeared. Both still want that title, both want to be the first challenger to the crown after SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024, but there's a little matter of fighting one another before that even becomes a possibility! So it will be this Thursday night on Honor Club that Diamante and Kiera Hogan will go one-on-one once again, a rematch of their tournament bout, but also reigniting a dynamic that dates back years, and has seen the two women work both as allies and foes! At this point in time, Diamante is firmly planted in the corner of Mercedes Martinez, and she's willing to do anything to insure that it's her or Mercedes who gets that first challenge at new champion! THE CHALLENGER... Mark Briscoe is set to challenge Eddie Kingston for the ROH World Championship in just eight days, his first shot since fighting Adam Cole at A NEW DAWN on 9/28/13, and “The Mad King” has already told Chicken he's planning to bring a bit of the old Eddie Kingston into the fight. This week we will hear from the 13-Time ROH World Tag Champion with his perspective on their impending fight, and what he aims to do on April 5th in Philadelphia! PLUS: -Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) In Tag Team Action! -The Dark Order's Evil Uno vs. The Workhorsemen's JD Drake!! -Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria) In Action!!! -Brandon Cutler & Colt Cabana In Tag Team Competition!!!! -And More!!!!!

  • ROH Women's World TV Title Tournament Final Set For Supercard Of Honor

Queen Aminata & Billie Starkz clash to crown the first-ever ROH Women's World TV Champion at Supercard of Honor! ROH SUPERCARD OF HONOR The Liacouras Center Philadelphia, PA April 5, 2024 8pm ET / 5pm PT

  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 56 Preview

SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 is just over two weeks away, and the line-up for ROH's return home to Philadelphia is beginning to take shape! ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston has laid down the challenge to Mark Briscoe for a fight at the Liacouras Center, and former 3-Time AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida stepped up to the challenge of ROH Women's World Champion Athena! We are also barreling towards the crowning of the first ROH Women's World TV Champion as Queen Aminata, Red Velvet, Billie Starkz, and Mercedes Martinez remain to vie for a spot in the finals at SOH '24! This week during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, we will see who advances to the championship fight, as well as welcome Shida for her first ROH fight! But she's not the only ROH debut this week; Anna Jay makes her first appearance in the ROH ring to take on Stardom's Mina Shirakawa in her ROH debut, and Smart Mark Sterling has his first ROH singles match against Serpentico! It all goes down this Thursday night beginning at 7pm ET/6pm CT exclusively on Honor Club, your home for more than 20 years of professional wrestling history from the most influential promotion of this century! ROH WOMEN'S WORLD TV TITLE TOURNAMENT... SEMI-FINAL 1... Billie Starkz vs. Mercedes Martinez Diamante proved to be a crucial factor in the Quarter-Final matches for both Billie Starkz and Mercedes Martinez. For Starkz, Diamante's role came in being the woman she defeated to advance to this Semi-Final contest on Thursday night, while for Mercedes Martinez, Diamante may be the only reason she is sitting her as a Semi-Finalist ready to fight Billie Starkz. Her involvement in Mercedes' fight with Abadon directly led to a Martinez victory, so the question has to be asked if she will involve herself in this Semi-Final fight as well; partly for revenge on Starkz and partly to help bolster her ally to the championship fight at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024? As was the case with Diamante in the Quarter-Finals, this is a first time singles bout for Billie Starkz and Mercedes, but Martinez holds that Tornado Tag victory over Starkz from HONOR CLUB #35 while Starkz was part of the victorious team at AEW's WRESTLEDREAM 2023 event. Can Starks overcome the veteran experience, as well as the potential involvement of Diamante, to advance to the finals, or will it be Mercedes Martinez who gets closer to holding the second ROH championship of her career? SEMI-FINAL 2... Queen Aminata vs. Red Velvet On the April 21, 2021 edition of AEW DARK Queen Aminata made her very first appearance inside an All Elite Wrestling ring. That night she was in tag team action and on the opposite side of the ring was none other than Red Velvet. Velvet was on the victorious team that evening, but the two women would meet once more, this time in singles competition on the September 6, 2021 edition of DARK: ELEVATION, but it would once again be Red Velvet scoring the win. That was the last time these two women stood inside the ring together, but that all changes this Thursday night on Honor Club when Queen Aminata and Red Velvet meet in the Semi-Finals of the ROH Women's World TV Championship tournament! Since her debut in ROH on HONOR CLUB #45, Queen Aminata has won six consecutive matches, five of them in singles competition, including a Four Corner Survival over Lady Frost, Diamante, and Trish Adora, and has looked superb in each bout. Her confidence has continued to grow with each victory, and it shows in the words she speaks, the way she carries herself to the ring, and in how she fights each match. Red Velvet made her ROH debut on that same edition as Queen Aminata, and she too remains undefeated with five straight wins, including a Four Corner Survival of her own that included Diamante, Kiera Hogan, and Trish Adora. Just like Queen, Red Velvet continues to build up her confidence and her momentum as she marches forward on this quest to become the first ROH Women's World TV Champion! This is going to be a hard-fought battle, of that there is no doubt, and each woman is going to know they've been through it at the end of the contest, but the winner will know they earned their way into the finals. In a tournament field full of pick'ems, this fight between Queen Aminata and Red Velvet may be the hardest one to call! ONE-ON-ONE... Hikaru Shida vs. Rachael Ellering With SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 approaching, “The Fallen Goddess” Athena made it clear she was looking for something to step up to challenge her on April 5th, and with the opportunity laid out on the table last week, it was 3-Time former AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida who sat down to eat! Her arrival during ROH ON HONOR CLUB marked Shida's first time on ROH programming, and this Thursday night will feature her very first time competing inside ROH's squared circle as she prepares to meet Athena in Philadelphia! Shida has a tough fight on her plate though as Rachael Ellering has accepted the match, and aims to prove her own worth in the championship picture! Ellering may have been eliminated from the TV Title Tournament by her best friend Leyla Hirsch, but that doesn't mean her title aspirations are dead, and if she can overcome Shida so close to her SOH '24 championship match, perhaps it will set Ellering up as the next challenger coming out of April 5th's PPV extravaganza! DEBUTS... Stardom's Mina Shirakawa vs. Anna Jay This bout on Thursday night welcomes two women to ROH competition for the very first time! Anna Jay is a competitor that AEW fans have watched grow before their very eyes, from “The Star of the Show” to “The Queen Slayer” to one of the most dangerous women in that locker room, with her time under the learning trees of Mr. Brodie Lee and Chris Jericho helping to hone her skills. Now she brings those lessons, and her Queen Slayer choke, into the Ring of Honor ring for her first-ever ROH match, but will it be enough when faced with the attack of Stardom's Mina Shirakawa? Shirakawa comes to ROH having held the Future of Stardom Championship, the Artist of Stardom Championship (with Tam Nakano and Unagi Sayaka), the Wonder of Stardom Championship, and the Goddesses of Stardom Championship (with Mariah May), all with just five years of experience to her resume, and even challenged Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women's Championship less than a month ago at NEW BEGINNING IN SAPPORO 2024! Shirakawa brings a strike-heavy style to bear, putting her extensive kickboxing training to use in the wrestling ring, and she's even put in training time at the UWF Snake Pit in Japan! She has a predilection for attacking the legs with her kicks, and often looks to finish her foes with the Glamorous Collection MINA or the Glamorous Driver MINA. This is going to be true test of how far Anna Jay has come in her career, but so too will it be a test of what Mina Shirakawa brings to the fight! Anna has shown her willingness to get violent and throwdown when the situation requires, and she is going to give Mina every bit of fight she's got! ALSO FEATURING: -“Big Shotty” Lee Johnson in action! -“Smart” Mark Sterling vs. Serpentico!! -And More!!!

  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 55 Preview

Last week on Honor Club, the ROH faithful watched as Red Velvet advanced to the Semi-Final round of the ROH Women's World TV Title Tournament, and this Thursday night during ROH ON HONOR CLUB we will watch the last two Quarter-Final bouts unfold before our eyes! Will it be Billie Starkz or Diamante who advances in the field? Can Abadon get past former ROH Women's World Champion Mercedes Martinez to advance? We will see this Thursday night at 7pm ET/6pm CT only on Honor Club, the home for Ring of Honor's 20+ year history featuring the most influential wrestling company of this century! ROH WOMEN'S WORLD TV CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT Quarter-Finals Billie Starkz vs. Diamante ***WINNER FACES MERCEDES MARTINEZ/ABADON WINNER*** With SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2024 drawing closer, this Thursday night ROH ON HONOR CLUB presents the last two Quarter-Final match-ups on the Women's World Television Tournament. We have already seen Queen Aminata and Red Velvet advance to the Semi-Finals, leaving four women to claim the other two spots in the Semi's; will it be Billie Starkz, Diamante, Mercedes Martinez, or Abadon? In the match-up between Starkz and Diamante, we've got a battle between some familiar foes who had their share of issues last fall. Starkz was able to score a victory over Diamante in their singles match back on HONOR CLUB #34, but in their Tornado Tag a week later, with ROH Women's World Champion Athena and Mercedes Martinez as their respective partners, the outcome was quite different and Starkz lost one for “The Fallen Goddess”. Fast forward twenty weeks to this Thursday and we find Billie Starkz seemingly more driven than she was heading into her FINAL BATTLE 2023 bout with Athena, and that's saying quite a lot. It's as if the disappointment in that loss, combined with the approval of the ROH Women's World Champion, and Athena pushing Starkz to win this tournament, have unlocked a new level of determination in young Billie. Still, she finds herself up against stiff competition in Diamante, a woman with a wealth of experience and knowledge who's also quite hungry to strap a championship around her waist. There is going to be a tremendous fight between these two on Thursday night to see who advances, but it's also going to be quite interesting to see who advances in the other bout as there's the potential for partners to collide in Mercedes Martinez versus Diamante! Mercedes Martinez vs. Abadon ***WINNER FACES BILLIE STARKZ/DIAMANTE WINNER*** Speaking of Mercedes, she finds herself with the staunch opponent on Thursday in the form of “The Living Dead Girl” Abadon! They've been on strong run in ROH, winning three consecutive bouts, but Mercedes Martinez is a former ROH Women's World Champion, a step up from the competition Abadon has faced thus far in Ring of Honor, though it can be said Mercedes has never faced an entity quite like Abadon either. Mercedes brings heavy firepower to all her fights, but is it enough to put Abadon down for the count and move forward in this tournament? We will find out this Thursday on Honor Club as the shape of the ROH Women's World TV Title Tournament Semi-Finals takes form! TAG TEAM RETURN! 2009 was the last time Orange Cassidy appeared in a Ring of Honor ring and suffice it to say, he was a very different animal way back then. Now he comes into the ROH ring as a former 2-Time AEW International Champion, the man who gave that title its identity and built its value into something coveted by the AEW locker room, but on a mission to prepare for tag team greatness! See with the AEW World Tag Team Championship vacant, there will be a tournament kicking off very soon, and with Chuck Taylor still on the injured reserve, Trent Beretta has tapped Orange Cassidy to be his tag team tournament partner! That means getting in as many reps as possible before the tournament kicks off, and with a tag team bout against Dark Order already set for RAMPAGE, they've decided to step into ROH competition to get into tag team mode! The chase for the AEW World Tag Titles is going to be a hot one, and for the Orange/Beretta tandem, it begins this Thursday night on HONOR CLUB! ALSO FEATURING: -ROH Women's World Champion Athena on the Proving Ground! -Four Corner Survival: AR Fox vs. Jack Cartwheel vs. Komander vs. Slim J!! -Four Corner Survival: Kiera Hogan vs. Lady Frost vs. Leyla Hirsch vs. Robyn Renegade!!! -“The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer in action! -Trios Action: Action Andretti & Top Flight vs. Iron Savages & Jacked Jameson!! -Lee Johnson vs. Aaron Solo -The Workhorsemen vs. Nick Comoroto & Jacoby Watts

  • ROH on HonorClub Episode 54 Preview

Last week the ROH faithful witnessed Queen Aminata become the first woman to advance to the Semi-Final round of the ROH Women's World TV Title Tournament, and this Thursday night during ROH ON HONOR CLUB we will find out The Queen's opponent! It's a renewal of an old rivalry as Red Velvet takes on Leyla Hirsch in the next Quarter-Final match, and we will also see another Quarter-Finalist, Abadon, compete in non-tournament action ahead of her fight with Mercedes Martinez! Plus four teams will collide in Four Corner Survival action with so much more is set to come your way starting at 7pm ET/6pm CT only on Honor Club, your home for the 20+ year history of the most influential wrestling company of this century! Quarter-Finals Red Velvet vs. “Legit” Leyla Hirsch ***WINNER FACES QUEEN AMINATA IN SEMI-FINALS*** Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch are no strangers to one another, in fact theirs is a relationship that dates back a little over two years to an actual friendship that disintegrated into rivalry. From January to March of 2022, the two athletes engaged in a trio of matches beginning with a submission victory for Hirsch on the 1/26/22 edition of DYNAMITE, followed by a Red Velvet win on the 3/18 RAMPAGE, and ultimately won by Leyla Hirsch on the 3/23 episode of DYNAMITE thanks to a little assist from a piece of steel. Hirsch would unfortunately end up on the injured list just a few weeks later, suffering the injury that kept her out of action for fourteen months, effectively putting an end to the issues between her and Red Velvet, that is until now when both are in the hunt to be the first ROH Women's TV Champion. Both are in a very different place in their careers than where they were in 2022, not just the difference between AEW and ROH, but in terms of how they are handling their business. Hirsch has seemingly found a kindred spirit in Rachael Ellering after both nearly fell into the Maria trap last year while Velvet has chosen to ride solo since her arrival in ROH at the beginning of 2024. Each has had varying degrees of success, and both went through tough fights to get into the Quarter-Final round of this tournament, Red Velvet overcoming the debuting Sandra Moone while Hirsch inadvertently hurt Ellering en route to that victory over her closest friend. This Thursday night, nearly two years since their last match, Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch will rekindle their rivalry as each tries to advance to the tournament Semi-Finals! Has time healed those old wounds, allowing this to be the competitive wrestling contest it could be, or are they still quite raw, potentially turning this into a bitter fight? ALSO FEATURING: -Abadon in action! -Four Corner Survival: Jack Cartwheel & Gringo Loco vs. Angelico & Serpentico vs. The Workhorsemen vs. The Infantry -Lee Johnson vs. Jon Cruz -“The Native Beast” Nyla Rose competes!!
