Ring of Honor held it's “Boiling Point 2012” iPPV event this past Saturday night where we made our debut in Providence, RI! It was a huge turnout and was quite a chaotic affair with a World Title war, one man earning himself an ROH contract, and the House of Truth falling apart at the seams. Read on for all the details:
Roderick Strong defeated Mike Mondo
Winner gets an ROH Contract: QT Marshall defeated Matt Taven, Antonio Thomas & Vinny Marseglia when he pinned Taven
Proving Ground Match: ROH World Champion Adam Cole submitted Brutal Bob; After the bell, Mike Bennett & Maria hit the ring to attempt an assault on Cole but their opponent for later in the evening, Eddie Edwards & Sara Del Rey, quickly followed to run them off
- Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong, and Truth Martini came to the ring for an interview with Kevin Kelly prior to the next match. Martini said that the HoT is the greatest cohesive unit in all of professional wrestling and that he can see the future. Kevin Steen will retain the World Title tonight then at “Death Before Dishonor X”, it will be Rhino versus Kevin Steen for the World Title and the World Title comes home to the House of Truth.
Kevin Kelly interrupted, bringing up the on-going dissenssion between Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong. Truth says that there is a lot of hoopla over that but Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin will prove that they are on the same page.
Elgin then said that great minds think alike because the image in his head is the same as Truth’s only it is with Elgin walking out of “Glory by Honor XI” in Toronto with the title. Michael says that he has sat down with Ring of Honor officials and he signed papers for his title match (one he earned from winning “Survival of the Fittest 2011”).
Strong interrupted and he said that Truth promised him Elgin’s title shot in Toronto. Strong asked what would happen if he went on strike and said that when Elgin gets his title shot in Toronto, he is going to be in the front row watching Elgin’s fail. Elgin told Strong that he can go on strike because after Toronto, Strong will have to address him as Champ.
Charlie Haas pinned Michael Elgin; The ending came as a direct result of Roderick spitting beer into Elgin's face which allowed Charlie to roll him up for the victory
Jay & Mark Briscoe beat Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs
2/3 Falls Match: Jay Lethal beat Tommaso Ciampa 2-1; Lethal captured the first fall with the Lethal Injection, Ciampa took the second with the Project Ciampa, and Jay scored the final fall after low-blowing Ciampa (a receipt for Ciampa doing the same earlier) and hitting another Lethal Injection; Prince Nana hit the ring at one point to attack RD Evans but he was in turn taken out by Ciampa
Eddie Edwards & Sara Del Rey beat Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis when Edwards submitted Bennett; At one point Del Rey had Maria in an ankle lock but she crawled under the ring to escape, Del Rey emerged from under the ring with Maria's top in hand and threw it at Bennett
ROH World Title/No Rules Match: Kevin Steen defeated Eddie Kingston to retain; Prior to the match starting, Bobby Cruise announced it would no be held without rules. The new stipulation immediately showed as Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino got involved right away. There was plenty of plunder involved and at one point, after being powerbombed through a table, it seemed Kingston would not be able to continue. While officials checked on Kingston, Steen verbally berated both the fans and Kingston, and in a disgusting psychological ploy, used the memory of the late Larry Sweeney which only served to goad Kingston back into the fight. Rhett Titus also got involved in the match at one point but it all came to an end after Steen delivered an F-Cinq through two chairs for the win.
The replay of “Boiling Point 2012” will be available on ROHWrestling.com right here and we return to iPPV on September 15th with “Death Before Dishonor X” featuring Kevin Steen vs. Rhino for the ROH World Title!
