The pro wrestling world is buzzing after the announcement that Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling will present two monumental joint shows in May 2014!
Announcements and updates are pouring in to, with the list of New Japan Stars. Already confirmed: "Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shinsuke Nakamura, Gedo & Jado! Today we can announce a match that will have an impact on Ring of Honor long after "Global Wars" and "War of the Worlds" are over.
As revealed yesterday, at Supercard of Honor VIII, current ROH World Champion Adam Cole will battle "Real" World Champion Jay Briscoe in a LADDER WAR.  The winner of this match will be declared the true ROH World Champion, restoring the lineage of the title and ending the dispute over who is the "real" World Champion truly is.
But whoever wins Ladder War V WILL defend his title in Toronto on May 10th at "Global Wars!” And the challenger is……"Mr. Wrestling" KEVIN STEEN!
Since losing the ROH World Championship to Jay Briscoe himself at "Supercard of Honor VII," Kevin Steen has not received a championship rematch in nearly a full year. Due in part to his involvement with S.C.U.M., matchmaker Nigel McGuinness never trusted Kevin Steen to get a rematch until he defended ROH and ridded the company of S.C.U.M. in Steel Cage Warfare. Following his contributions in that match, Nigel granted Steen a title match at "The Golden Dream" in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, due to injuries suffered in the "Champions vs. All-Stars" match, Adam Cole suffered a concussion and was not able to compete in that match. Kevin Steen instead had to face off against Jay Briscoe in a singles match.

A few weeks ago at "State of the Art" in San Antonio, Kevin Steen won a #1 contender 4 corner survival match against Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin, and Tommaso Ciampa. This guaranteed Steen another World Championship match. Following the match, Steen proclaimed that he is now actually deserving of three championship matches. He never got his official rematch after losing the title, he never got his rematch from "The Golden Dream", and now he has earned an opportunity at "State of the Art."

After a year of championship frustration, Steen will finally get his shot in the Main Event at "Global Wars." Ring of Honor is set to do battle with New Japan Pro Wrestling at the event in a battle of America vs. Japan. But Kevin Steen looks to add to the Global War as he will represent the host site of Canada in a battle against U.S.A.'s Jay Briscoe or Adam Cole.

Canada, Toronto specifically, and The Ted Reeve Arena even more specifically, have always been a good luck charm for Kevin Steen. "Global Wars" will mark almost the two year anniversary since Kevin Steen defeated Davey Richards at "Border Wars" 2012 to become the ROH World Champion. Will lightning strike twice when Kevin Steen wins the ROH World Championship in his homeland for the second time? Will Kevin Steen look to dethrone the brash young champion Adam Cole? Or will Kevin Steen get a chance of redemption against Jay Briscoe? Can Kevin Steen make history and become only the second man to ever hold the title twice?
We will not know for certain who will hold the title after April 4th in New Orleans until the carnage of Ladder War V ends. But regardless of who stands across the ring, Toronto will be electric on May 10th!
