ROH 5 Count: Dalton Castle's Greatest Victories

Dalton Castle has the biggest match of his career coming up on December 15 at the Final Battle pay-per-view when he challenges Cody for the ROH World Championship. Here’s a look at the flamboyant star’s five greatest victories heading into that match.

5. VS. JAY BRISCOE, MOOSE AND MATT SYDAL IN A FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH (Dec. 19, 2015)

Castle entered this match as the clear underdog, as he was facing a two-time former ROH World Champion in Briscoe, a surging powerhouse in Moose, and an accomplished veteran at the top of his game in Sydal. Not only did Castle prove that he can hang with such high-level competitors, he showed that he has the ability to emerge victorious against them. Castle scored what at the time was a surprising win after hitting Bang-A-Rang on Sydal.

4. VS. SILAS YOUNG  (Best in the World, June 19, 2015)

Castle’s first rivalry in ROH was with Young, and it’s not hard to understand why pro wrestling’s “Peacock” and “Pro Wrestling’s Last Real Man” despised each other. The first meeting between the two polar opposites took place at Best in the World, and it also was Castle’s pay-per-view debut. Castle withstood Young’s underhanded tactics and then turned the tables on him, using a low blow to pick up the victory.

3. VS. MARTY SCURLL (Nov. 17, 2017)

Things have been intense between Castle and Bullet Club since the War of the Worlds UK tour this past August, when The Young Bucks and Adam Page defeated Castle and The Boys for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles, and Cody injured Castle’s shoulder in a backstage attack after Castle had issued a challenge to the ROH World Champion. At Survival of the Fittest: Night 1, Castle sent a message to Cody by defeating Bullet Club’s “Villain”, a former ROH World Television Champion and one of the toughest competitors in ROH.

2. VS. RODERICK STRONG (June 25, 2016)

Strong wasn’t called “Mr. ROH” for nothing. One of the most decorated competitors in ROH history, Strong’s final match with the company was against Castle. There would be no fairy tale ending for Strong, as Castle hit Bang-A-Rang to score a decisive victory in a match that had the crowd going crazy. In defeating the former ROH World Champion and two-time former ROH World Television Champion, Castle showed that he can go hold-for-hold with the very best -- and come out on top.

1. VS. SILAS YOUNG IN A FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR (Feb. 27, 2016)

Heading into this final showdown between the two bitter enemies, Castle had already proved that he was much more than a colorful personality with an elaborate entrance. But while it was obvious that Castle was a skilled competitor, there were some who doubted his toughness. Castle silenced his critics by showing that he was more than man enough to defeat “Pro Wrestling’s Last Real Man” at his own game. In a wild brawl that saw ladders, tables, chairs and trash can lids used as weapons, Castle prevailed after hitting Bang-A-Rang on Young onto steel chairs.

As impressive as these victories are, Dalton Castle has now earned the chance to secure a clear #1 with a win at Final Battle. He is eager for revenge, retribution, and ROH World Championship gold when he challenges “The American Nightmare” in front of a sold out NYC crowd on Friday, December 15. Will he do it?
