On Saturday at “Caged Hostility”, Kyle O'Reilly stepped into the ring with his former tag team partner, ROH World TV Champion Adam Cole, in a Proving Ground bout with a future shot at the TV title up for grabs if Kyle could either pin the champ or last the time limit.
To Kyle's credit, it was the former that ended up happening as he, taking advantage of a distraction provided by the unexpected presence of Davey Richards at ringside, reversed the Florida Key German Suplex into a roll-up.
“I did exactly what I said I was going to do.” said Kyle to ROHWrestling.com after the bout, “Despite that fact that ROH officials did not even address the Submissions match challenge I made, I pinned Adam and now you owe me a shot at the TV Title. I hope you can defy expectations and actually beat Mike Mondo at Death Before Dishonor because it would be the most satisfying thing I can think of to make you tap out and then have to hand the TV Title over to me, knowing I am the better man. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind beating Mondo for the belt but the true joy will come from defeating you Adam. So, for the first time in a long time and for the last time ever, I will be rooting for you on Saturday Adam because whenever I get my title shot, it's only going to take one shot.”
Well O'Reilly is going to have to be a patient man because with the aforementioned title match between Cole & Mondo this Saturday night at “Death Before Dishonor X” and the “Survival of the Fittest 2012” tournament at the next “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings, Kyle is going to have to wait until November 3rd for his championship opportunity.
That night Ring of Honor returns to the Pittsburgh area for our final “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV tapings of 2012. A lot can happen in two months, it could be Mondo vs. O'Reilly just as much as it could be Adam Cole that Kyle squares off with. The face of that 11/3 TV Title match will begin to be painted this weekend in Chicago, and then come to a head at Rostraver Ice Gardens on November 3rd!
