KUSHIDA Defends the ROH TV Title Against Marty Scurll at Best in the World

Three years after its debut as Ring of Honor’s first-ever live, broadcast Pay Per View, one of ROH’s premiere events Best in the World returns to Pay Per View on Friday June 23 at 9 PM EST/6 PM PST, emanating from the Lowell Memorial Auditorium! The following night, ROH returns to Lowell, MA for the fallout from Best in the World with an international television taping!

While Best in the World will be on all major Pay Per View carriers, as well as the Fite.TV app, Playstation Network, and ROHWrestling.com, there is nothing like seeing ROH live! Tickets are moving briskly, including special two-day passes – to get the best seats, get yours now!

The ROH Board of Directors have been working overtime signing bouts for the Pay Per View extravaganza. A new ROH World Television Champion was crowned in Philadelphia. The former champion believes he lost the championship under dubious circumstances while the new champion couldn’t sign the paperwork for the rematch quick enough, looking to prove his victory was no fluke!

ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION KUSHIDA vs. “THE VILLAIN” MARTY SCURLL
KUSHIDA came to North America looking to break a slump he was in. Following one of the quickest defeats in the history of the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship, KUSHIDA eagerly signed to appear on the War of the Worlds Tour to shake off his loss and regroup.

Little did he realize that he would leave the continent with championship gold and enough momentum to propel himself through the Best of Super Juniors for the second time in three years!

KUSHIDA opened the War of the Worlds Tour with a victory over Jay Lethal in Toronto, an upset in the eyes of many. KUSHIDA then closed the tour with a victory over “The Villain” Marty Scurll in front of a sold out 2300 Arena, becoming the 13th ROH World Television Champion and the fourth internationally-born champion out of the title’s last five holders, truly emphasizing the word world in the championship’s name!

The former champion Marty Scurll successfully defended the title 11 times in the nearly six months he held the championship. For Scurll, it is less that he lost the championship to a worthy challenger like KUSHIDA, but more so how he lost it: a loss following interference from vanquished Bullet Club member Adam Cole!

Immediately following his loss, Scurll petitioned for a rematch. On the biggest roll of his career, winning his second Best of Super Juniors tournament in three years, including five-straight matches to win his round-robin block and the tournament, KUSHIDA wasted no time answering with a resounding yes! The TV Title will be on the line in a rematch between two of the best young stars in the world! Who will emerge victorious? Order Best in the World to find out!

The fourth-annual Best in the World Pay Per View emanates from the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on Friday June 23 at 9:00 EST/6:00 PST! It is available on all major providers as well as the Fite.TV app, Playstation Network, and ROHWrestling.com. And remember: you can join us live in Lowell, MA with special ticket packages available for both Best in the World AND our international television taping featuring the fallout the following night!
