Ring of Honor’s historic Best in The World ’15: Battle of the Belts is in the history books! Over 1,100 fans jammed Terminal 5 in New York City to witness this amazing event.
“The Sussex County Chicken” Mark Briscoe defeated The House of Truth's Donovan Dijak with the froggy bow. Truth Martini did not want the H.O.T.’s night to start off this way, but Briscoe showed he was ready and willing to go to great lengths for the win and that he did!
The Decade, B.J. Whitmer & Adam Page, defeated Matt Sydal and ACH in a very heated match when Page hit the Rite of Passage on Sydal. The fans in Terminal 5 smothered BJ Whitmer with hate, but it did not distract him and Page as they came out victorious. The issues between these four are far from over.
“The 24/7 Party” Dalton Castle scored his biggest win so far when he pinned “The Last Real Man” Silas Young in what was a very intense match-up. Young was unhappy with the loss and attacked one of Daltons “boys”. The normally jubilant Castle showed very harsh anger towards Silas, letting him know he will not get away with the attack.
War Machine (Hanson & Rowe) continued their blazing hot win streak by defeating the reformed C&C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander). Alexander showing a new aggressive side and wanted to use his wrench during the match, but Caprice would have none of it! This caused dissension and lead to C&C’s demise. Alexander let Coleman know he didn’t want anything to do with him any longer.
ROH World Champion #1 Contender’s Match
“Mr ROH” Roderick Strong defeated Moose & “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin when Strong nailed Moose with a sick kick . All three men brought everything they had. Strong played the ultimate game of chess in this one and seized the opportunity to claim victory when it came. Veda Scott was not happy with Moose following the code of horror. Moose appeared to become very agitated towards Veda, but was attacked from behind by Cedric Alexander who left Moose & Stokely Hathaway laying with shots from a wrench!
The Bullet Club (IWGP Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles & IWGP JR Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks) defeated The Kingdom (Adam Cole, IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Matt Taven & Michael Bennett w/ Maria Kanellis) after AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash on Adam Cole. This was another classic between these two factions! There appears to be trouble brewing in the Kingdom as The Queen Maria Kanellis was not happy watching Cole’s shoulders get pinned to the mat.
NO DQ for the ROH World Tag Team Championship
The Addiction (Christoper Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) was victorious over reDRagon These two teams went all out! At one point Bobby Fish was taped to the ropes and assaulted in brutal fashion. It appeared reDRagon were closing in on regaining their championships when Chris Sabin returned and once again cost reDRagon!
Champion vs. Champion
ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal w/Truth Martini defeated ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe to win the ROH World Championship and retain the TV Championship.
This epic match up saw interference and ejections of both Donovan Dijak and J Diesel. Jay Briscoe would deliver a brutal Jay Driller from the apron through a table. Nigel McGuinness would interject himself and have Truth Martini ejected as well! In the end Jay Lethal hit a Jay Driller on Briscoe followed by a Lethal Injection to shock the stunned crowd and score the biggest win of his career. Briscoe's two year streak of not being pinned or submitted came to an end at Best in The World ’15: Battle of the Belts. This is a classic that you must go out of your way to see.
