Ring of Honor makes its long-awaited return to New Jersey on Saturday night October 6th when we debut in Rahway at the Recreation Center that has become quite a home for professional wrestling in recent years!
Several wrestlers have already been announced to compete that night including ROH World Champion Kevin Steen, ROH World TV Champion Adam Cole, The Briscoes, and Jay Lethal just to name a few but now we have some big news just provided to us by ROH officials.
First, we are told that you can expect the 1st official match to be announced tomorrow right here on ROHWrestling.com and we're also told it is a first-time confrontation between two of ROH's finest duos...
Second, we have also been informed that the winner of the ROH World Tag Team Title tournament taking place at “Death Before Dishonor X” in Chicago Ridge on September 15th WILL defend the titles in Rahway!
And finally, in regards to the ROH World Title picture, it seems that ROH Executive Producer Jim Cornette has been looking ahead to the rest of ROH's year and is aiming to have title contenders in place as insurance policies just in case Kevin Steen remains the ROH World Champion through his currently scheduled title defenses. Rhino is the next man scheduled to get his opportunity at “Death Before Dishonor X” while Michael Elgin has been slated to get his SOTF-earned shot at “Glory by Honor XI” on October 13th. Still Cornette feels that is not enough, and given the limited number of title opportunities left in 2012, is scouting the ROH locker room looking for individuals who have yet to challenge Steen to step up and prove they deserve an opportunity.
“Regardless of my personal feelings on Truth Martini, Rhino, and the House of Truth,” said Cornette, “I had to admire the gumption it took for Rhino to put himself out there as a challenger for Steen. He didn't just wait for his number to get called, he stepped up to the plate and called his shot. Still there is always that window for failure and there is no guarantee Rhino will put an end to Ring of Honor's nightmare. The same can be said for Unbreakable Michael Elgin as well come our trip to Canada so what I am looking for is someone to step up to the challenge in New Jersey. Rhett Titus, Adam Cole, Jay Lethal, either Briscoe, hell I'd even consider Haas if he showed me he deserved it...I am looking for someone to show me they've got what it takes to sink down to Kevin's level and maybe beat him at his own game. Show me some killer instinct, show me some willingness to walk that line, show me you'll walk through hell just to get the shot and you're my guy. This is a challenge to everyone in the ROH locker room who hasn't faced Kevin Steen for the title yet. I'm begging ya to show me you've got that little bit of the devil inside you too!”
The call has been issued to the locker room, now who will step up to the plate to challenge for the ROH World Title when ROH hits Rahway, NJ on October 6th! There are a lot of hungry individuals fighting for an opportunity, but who will stand above the rest...or maybe it's stoop low enough...to show they have what it takes to become part of the nightmare? The ROH faithful will have to wait and see.
