Night 2 of Raising the Bar weekend is already loaded with top ROH talent and exciting matches. But we're not done yet, Chicago Ridge! We can now confirm 3 more big matches for March 8th:
Matt Taven vs. Silas Young
Matt Taven has changed since he lost the ROH World Television Title, Truth Martini, and HOOPLA. Some have said he's "grown up" and become his own man - even going to far as to challenge World Champion Adam Cole for Milwaukee! But while Taven tries to reclaim whatever honor he lost in the HOOPLA of the past year, Silas Young has become a thorn in his side. Young has interrupted Taven's handshakes and made it known that he doesn't think he's much of a "real" man at all.
At the 12th Anniversary in Philadelphia, Matt Taven defeated Silas Young. Not content to accept his defeat honorably, Young attacked Taven after the match. Now these athletes have a chance to settle their grudge once and for all in Chicago Ridge. Both Matt Taven and Silas Young have proven they're willing to sacrifice their own bodies and take incredible risks to win some of the most hard hitting matches in recent ROH history. Add in their heated feud and this is one war you don't want to miss!
STUDENT vs MENTOR
"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. Tyson Dux
"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin made an immediate impression on Ring of Honor from the moment he stepped between the ropes. He has since established himself as one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet and perennial contender for the ROH World Title. His matches are the hardest hitting, most intense at virtually every event. He is so dominant that it might be hard to think of him as a student. As a young, up and coming athlete looking for guidance.
But he found that guidance in a man who makes his return to ROH at Raising the Bar weekend: Tyson Dux. A mainstay of Canadian wrestling, Dux has mentored and guided Elgin throughout his career - and now he's looking to make his own way in Ring of Honor. Now they face each other in an ROH ring. This time, will the teacher still be one step ahead of his student? Or will the student show the teacher how much he's learned by defeating him? In Chicago Ridge - one-on-one - it's Student vs. Mentor!
Michael Bennett with Maria Kanellis vs. Jay Lethal
Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis are all about POWER. They run in influential circles - recently aligning themselves with World Champion Adam Cole - and excel at media and self promotion. They have made clear that they are tired of waiting around for opportunities and will take them for themselves however they feel necessary. And it seems Jay Lethal has been experiencing his own similar frustrations recently. His usually cool temper has flared after some recent matches. At the 12th Anniversary, he ultimately lost to AJ Styles in a hugely competitive match that obviously had future world title shot implications.
In Chicago Ridge, Michael Bennett and Jay Lethal will square off in a battle of two athletes who are seeking power in Ring of Honor. Bennett's quest for higher and higher profile matches would certainly be aided by defeating Jay Lethal. And Jay Lethal knows he needs something to change if he's going to stay on top of so many hungry, motivated ROH athletes. Everyone in this match has something to prove. Don't miss it on March 8th!
