The AFTERSHOCK from BEST IN THE WORLD '14 is ready to shake Hopkins! We are just days away from this Saturday's full night of action. Here's what you will see LIVE on July 12th:
Special LIVE IN-RING FISH TANK with Bobby Fish!
Proving Ground
Jay Lethal w/ Truth Martini vs. New Japan's Takaaki Watanabe
At BEST IN THE WORLD, NJPW's Takaaki Watanabe took part in a wild 6 man TV Title Number One Contender's match. While he was not successful in Nashville, his performance was impressive enough to show he fits right into the always competitive TV Title scene. In Minneapolis, Watanabe will step into the Proving Ground against current champion, Jay Lethal! This is Watanabe's opportunity to earn his first big victory in ROH and earn a title shot! But - as always - Lethal will have Truth Martini and The House of Truth in his corner.
4 Corner Survival - Winner Gets ROH World Title Shot in Milwaukee on 8/22
Silas Young vs. Jimmy Jacobs vs. Matt Taven vs. ACH
Now that Michael Elgin is ROH World Champion, he has made it known that he will take on the challenge of anyone, anywhere. He intends to be a true fighting champion.  That leaves Nigel McGuinness the difficult task of determining who deserves title shots and when. On July 12, four of the top athletes in ROH will face each other in a Four Corner Survival - and the winner receives a World Title opportunity at Death Before Dishonor in Milwaukee!
BJ Whitmer/Roderick Strong w/ Tadarius Thomas vs. Mark & Jay Briscoe
After losing to Cedric Alexander in a Submission Match at BEST IN THE WORLD, Roderick Strong looks to regain some momentum at AFTERSHOCK. On July 12th, he'll team with his fellow member of The Decade to face Dem Boys! The Briscoes fought an epic battle against Michael Bennett and Matt Hardy live on PPV - a match so brutal that you have to think they're still feeling the pain weeks later.
The Decade claims the younger generation of starts doesn't show the proper respect and hasn't earned their spots in the locker room...but even Roderick Strong and BJ Whitmer have to respect the legacy of The Briscoes! This match pits some of ROH's longest tenured athletes against each other and is sure to showcase what Ring of Honor is all about.
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Cedric Alexander
As any ROH fan knows, Kyle O'Reilly and Cedric Alexander have a long history together.  When Cedric was working through the tag team ranks with his former partner, Caprice Coleman, O'Reilly was quickly finding success - and gold - making him a target for all other teams.  reDRagon and C & C battled, but Cedric was never able to win a championship from Kyle O'Reilly.  Now O'Reilly is still a champion...but Alexander has proven himself in an entirely different way.  He's constantly impressing in singles competition, and at BEST IN THE WORLD he made former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong tap out live on PPV.  At AFTERSHOCK, a rivalry is renewed when Kyle O'Reilly takes on Cedric Alexander.  But this time, there are no titles on the line. This time, it's about two hungry young athletes showing the world they've turned into two of the best professional wrestlers on the planet.
Match One: Kevin Steen vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Both a former ROH Tag Team Champion and World Champion, Kevin Steen has not always been the popular man in Ring of Honor - at least not with the people in charge. But it is Steen's insistence on forging his own path and doing things "his way" that turned him into one of the most unforgettable athletes in the history of the promotion.  There has never been - and there never will be - another Kevin Steen.
As a reflection of all that Steen has meant to Ring of Honor - to the locker room and the fans - Nigel McGuinness has decided to allow him to hand select his opponents for his remaining ROH matches. On July 12th we will see Kevin Steen vs. TOMMASO CIAMPA for the very first time ever! Steen selected Ciampa as a unique challenge and a talented performer for whom he has the highest respect - but their paths have never crossed inside a wrestling ring until now.  This is an historic battle that might never, ever be repeated.
Six-Man War
THE KINGDOM (Adam Cole/Michael Bennett/ Matt Hardy) w/ Maria Kanellis vs. Michael Elgin/War Machine (Hanson & Rowe)
In the months leading up to ROH's ground breaking first PPV, Adam Cole found strength in numbers with Matt Hardy, Michael Bennett, and Maria Kanellis. The Kingdom did everything they could to ensure Elgin was at a total disadvantage and gold would stay with them. In one of the most disturbing moments in recent memory, they restrained Elgin and forced him to watch while the champ put Elgin's wife, MsChif, in the Figure Four. As the ultimate insult, Adam Cole even shaved his challenger's head!
Then in Nashville during the world championship bout, The Kingdom continued to to interfere on behalf of Adam Cole. But while they may have counted on the four-on-one advantage to ensure victory, THIS time Michael Elgin had some back up off his own! Maria Kanellis received a face full of green mist as MsChif got her revenge.  But most surprisingly, the up and coming behemoth tag team WAR MACHINE let the world know that if The Kingdom wants to get to Elgin, they'll have Hanson and Rowe to get through first!
And at the end of the night, we had a NEW ROH World Champion!
Minneapolis, get ready to experience the AFTERSHOCK from the night that rocked Nashville.  The first stop on the ROH SUMMER HEAT TOUR will see the fallout of the world title match live and in person! The new alliance of Michael Elgin and War Machine is one of the most physically imposing, intense forces imaginable - and on July 12th they team up to take on Adam Cole, Michael Bennett, and Matt Hardy.
All this plus a special Q&A with The Kingdom and Kevin Steen's final Minnesota Meet and Greet!
