From PWInsider.com:
"ROH looked into bringing former WWWF champion Bruno Sammartino into one of their Chicago Ridge, Illinois events during Wrestlemania weekend to present him with a plaque honoring his career but it’s not going to happen. Sammartino signed an exclusive deal with Wrestlereunion promoter Sal Corrente and will be appearing only at events promoted under their umbrella from this point on. They are in the planning stages of taking their autograph conventions on the road starting this summer."
I think it's better that it didn't happen. Since that Wrestlereunion company released a Shoot DVD of Bruno, ROH wouldn't make a ton of money from doing a SSS DVD. All Bruno could do is make a live statement about how ROH is closer to the professional wrestling that he remembered instead of what's airing on WWE TV. |

WOW!
I would've definitely got a SSS with Bruno or anything that has Bruno on it.
Bruno was the f'n man. Sucks they couldn't make it happen. |

Bruno sooooo rarely does anything with wrestling now. As he hates what the profession has turned into. Not just entertainment wise...but he is just a total class guy and really just a kind and caring person and detested the drugs/sleaze that wrestling turned into in the 80's and 90's.
I've met him a few times in the mid 90's when he'd occasionally work for promoters in Pa for indy appearances...and he is just SUCH a nice person. He's better than wrestling and one of few men who have never succumbed to Vince's money.
He's stubborn and bitter to a degree...but what a great human being. I don't think he'd have drawn any extra fans or that it would have been an amazing segment or anything, but he deserves to be recognized by the fans he has left for his contributions. |

| Hmm, I wonder if that was one of ROH's big announcements. I was too young to remember him, but I always hear people talk about him. No huge loss to me I guess. |

The shoot dvd that Bruno did was not good at all. I was VERY disappointed. Between the interviewer (I believe it was Scott Hudson) basically going gah-gah over Bruno, to Bruno constantly kayfabing throughout the entire interview, it wasn't a good finished product.
Bruno is a true legend, but as said previously, I doubt it would have drawn any additional fans to the show, especially if it's on the same day as the Hall Of Fame ceremony that will see Bret Hart (and perhaps Dusty and Guerrero) inducted.
If they want to get a WWE legend that doesn't have anything to do with the E anymore, they ought to bring in Randy Savage. Not that I'm a big Savage fan, but it's a name that is still familiar to many current fans, and a shoot interview with The Macho Man would definitely be interesting. His asking price might be way too high though.
Heck, since it's Chicago, they could even bring in William "The Refrigerator" Perry, since it's the 20th Anniversary of his appearance at WM 2 in Chicago at the Battle Royal. Not to mention that he's a true Chicago legend and loved by many. But that might be too "sports entertainish" for many ROH fans. |

| A good attempt by ROH, Bruno is the man. His matches with Killer Kowalski that I've seen are off the charts. Bruno was in his heyday before I was born, but I made sure, and my father made sure too, that I watched Bruno tapes because the guy is really an amazing performer and probably the strongest babyface I've ever seen in my life. He was just on The Score television station here in Canada doing an interview about a documentary coming out about his life, the guy is still in phenomenal shape. I do respect his stance on wrestling, but heck, he may even consider ROH too "risque" with some of the stuff they put on. |
