2012 RING OF HONOR RESULTS

Final Battle 2012
New York, NY 12/16/12

1. Grudge Match: Roderick Strong defeated "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin after Roderick cracked Elgin in the skull with the Book of Truth & delivered a huge backbreaker; Following the match Martini attempted to endear himself to Strong but the former World Champion reiterated that he quit the HoT. Martini then tried the same on Elgin who goes to powerbomb him but stops when Truth begs to be heard. Martini took credit for every bit of success both Strong & Elgin had, slapped Elgin, and found himself on the receiving of a Buckle Bomb & Spinning Backfist

2. Jay Lethal pinned Rhino; Prior to the match Steve Corino joined the commentary team and following the match confronted Lethal regarding his statement that he would fight Steen that night. Jimmy Jacobs hit the ring to assault Lethal and ultimately led to Rhino goring Lethal out of his boots as he was restrained by S.C.U.M

3. RD Evans w/ QT Marshall beat Prince Nana; Ernesto Osiris attempted to get involved to help Nana but Marshall dispensed of him and after the match Tommaso Ciampa came out of the crowd to get at Evans & Marshall but they escaped

4. NYC Street Fight: WGTT (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) beat Rhett Titus & BJ Whitmer after Haas delivered a scary belly-to-belly suplex to Whitmer thru a table; This crazy fight saw a Christmas tree, plastic candy canes, kendo sticks, tables, and chairs come into play

5. "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett w/ Maria & Brutal Bob pinned Jerry Lynn in his final ROH match; The end of this match came about as a direct result of Maria's interference which left Lynn open for a Box Office Smash from Bennett.

-Following the match, Nigel McGuinness & the locker room came out to honor Lynn and present him with a trophy to recognize his accomplishments in professional wrestling. Before Nigel could leave the ring though, he was confronted by Jay Lethal who demanded to be included in the World Title match due to his "Survival of the Fittest 2012" victory. Nigel said he won’t do that and suggested Lethal go backstage to watch the show. McGuinness then stated that if Generico wins, Lethal would be first in line for a title shot. Lethal told Nigel to make the match for him tonight or he would take it himself. He also said he’s sick of ROH doing nothing about Steen spitting on his mother, how they are spitting on him, and thus he spat on Nigel. Nigel backed Lethal into the corner before security and referees broke them up. Nigel then told security to remove Lethal from of the building

-"No Fear" Mike Mondo, on crutches, came down to the ring with Kevin Kelly to address his injury status. Mondo tossed away the crutches and said he doesn’t need them anymore because he will be back in just four weeks! He is then cut off by Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish who said they heard there will be no Wolves reunion tonight and told Mondo he should tag with Davey Richards. While Mondo was focused on Fish, O’Reilly swept his bad leg out from underneath him and then the duo assaulted Mondo until Davey hit the ring.  The numbers was too much though as Fish & O'Reilly put Davey down too until Eddie Edwards hits the ring. Kyle & Bobby held up Davey for Eddie to hit but he delivered a superkick to Fish leading into...

6. Tag Team Grudge Match: The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) beat Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish when Todd Sinclair stopped the match as Edwards had O'Reilly in the Achilles Lock & was stomping on his head

7. Non-Title Match: Matt Hardy defeated World TV Champion Adam Cole after Hardy blinded the referee by pulling his shirt over his head & low-blowing Cole

8. Sudden Death World Tag Title Match: Jay & Mark Briscoe beat S.C.U.M (Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs) and Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander to become the 35th and 8-Time Tag Champions; In a match where the champions had to be pinned for a team to win the belts, the end came after the Briscoes hit Jimmy Jacobs with a Doomsday Device

9. World Title Match/Ladder War IV: Kevin Steen defeated El Generico to retain following a Package Piledriver through TWO ladders; This was a brutal affair that saw tables, ladders, and the bodies of both men destroyed. It must be seen to believe the carnage...

3.Tag Team Grudge Match: Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) beat BJ Whitmer & Rhett Titus in a total brawl that started before the bell even rang

4.In a must-see battle, Jay Lethal beat Davey Richards via referee stoppage when Richards passed out in the Koji Clutch; Prior to the match Lethal got on the microphone and discussed his meeting with Joe Koff. Lethal said Koff wanted to sweep the incident with his mother under the rug. He also said Steen can kiss his ass, but he put Cornette out, sees that nobody seems too upset about that, and be careful what you wish for. He said ROH told him he was too nice and needed a killer instinct, so he tells ROH that they can kiss his ass too. Lethal than said he won't say the same to his opponent tonight, because he has a lot of respect for Davey Richards. After the match, Eddie Edwards suprisingly came out to check on his former American Wolves tag team partner...

-Prior to the start of the his scheduled match with Tadarius Thomas, Roderick Strong came to the ring in street clothes and protested being in a match against Thomas because “he hasn't beaten anybody”. Strong said he's not just on strike from the HoT, but he is quitting the House of Truth and is going to sit front row and watch Elgin lose. Truth then got Rhino, who looked none too happy about it, to take on Thomas

5.Tadarius Thomas pinned Rhino; Rhino seemed not at all happy about this match or about Truth get involved in it as a distraction from Martini set Rhino up to get knocked loopy from a Tadarius kick long enough for him to score the upset. After the loss, Rhino grabbed Martini (who tried to throw money at Rhino to stop him) and press slammed him over the top rope to the floor against the guardrails.

6.ROH World TV Title Match: Adam Cole defeated Eddie Edwards to retain; This amazing back-and-forth battle saw Eddie nearly capture the title for the second time on several occassions but Cole continue to fight back until he nailed Florida Key for the win. As a side note, this marks the 3rd former World Champion Cole has beaten this year (Richards at “10th Anniversary”, Strong for the TV Title, and now Edwards)...

7.ROH World Tag Title Match: S.C.U.M (Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs) beat Jay & Mark Briscoe to retain in a wild brawl that

8.ROH World Title Match: Kevin Steen defeated “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin to retain in a ridiculously hard-hitting bout that must been seen. Both men gave it their absolute all and it took a top rope Package Piledriver to finally put Elgin away! Prior to the match, Steen told the fans that ROH gave into his demands including a new title belt and the reinstatement of the package piledriver. During the course of the match Elgin took Roderick, who was seated at ringside, and whipped him through the guardrails.

-After the match, Strong returned and absolutely drilled Elgin with a Sick Kick before running away. Then, referee Paul Turner handed Nigel McGuinness a package that was to be delivered to Steen in the event of him retaining the World Title. Nigel handed the box over to the champion who opened it and to his shock & disbelief found an El Generico mask inside...

7.Jay & Mark Briscoe beat ROH World TV Champion Adam Cole & Eddie Edwards after a Doomsday Device on Cole

8.ROH World Title Match: Kevin Steen vs. Jay Lethal ended in a No Contest after Steen spit on Lethal's mother at ringside; The match was an amazing must-see battle until Steen began trash talking Jay Lethal's family who were at ringside which led to Jay's mom throwing a soda at the champion.

- While this is certainly not the behavior tolerated from fans, Steen's reaction of spitting on Lethal's mom was not any better and led to total chaos. Lethal assaulted Steen outside the ring, yelling words not fit for print here, and it led to Jim Cornette, Corino, Jacobs, referees, and security all attempting to get involved to end the chaos. SCUM were eventually separated from Lethal, Steen tearing down a piece of the entryway on his way out & swearing he wasn't coming back, while Lethal began to trash anything in sight around the ringside area. Throwing chairs, flipping tables, attempting to go after anyone who came near him, it was obvious Lethal had lost all control as he headed to the locker room area. The situation escalated further when Lethal assaulted several members of security as well as Jim Cornette when he returned to the locker room area. Cornette suffered the worst of it as he was taken to the hospital with a back injury...

8.World Tag Team Title Match: Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs beat Rhett Titus & Charlie Haas to become the 34th Champions; Shelton Benjamin, who was at ringside, played a big part in the decision as he first interfered to help Titus but Rhett refused to take the tainted win.
